First internal scan

Hi all,
I have my first internal scan next week - follicle count and examination of the structures etc.

What are people's experiences?

I have extreme health anxiety (on medication) so even considering this pathway has taken A LOT of strength and therapy 😂

Thanks

Hi, I find internal scans to be painless, though can feel a bit uncomfortable. I think most people's experience will be similar. I think you will eventually find that internal scans are one of the easiest parts of the process. Good luck 🍀

I am very similar re health anxiety. I have 1 child already and had to have an elective c section to give birth. I'm going through secondary infertility so also had to have an internal scan recently. I promise, hand on heart, it could not have been more fine. I mean you're aware it's happening but it's painless and over quickly. There's loads of KY on the wand and it doesn't go in super far. And if you tell them how you're feeling, they'll be extra gentle. All the best with everything 😊

I also have anxiety and barely slept the night before my baseline scan, mostly out of worry of the findings but thankfully it was all fine. In terms of the internal scan part I have been through SO many of these now with IUI and IVF, I still work myself up a bit but then remember it's briefly uncomfortable for a second or two whilst it goes in but the lube and right position helps a lot. I usually wear a pantyliner or something that I can change after to feel refresher. Also bottom clothes and shoes that are easy to get on and off. I know some people prefer to wear a skirt so it's less of a faff either side of the scan. Good luck with it all 😊
