Appointment before FET

Hi everyone,

We've been through egg collection and have blastocysts frozen. We had to do freeze all because of PCOS and OHSS risk. Thankfully finished the withdrawal bleed so will be waiting for next period which I know can be a bit later than usual.

We have our appointment with the fertility clinic this week. I think this will be to discuss FET and next steps - do people have any advice for what I should ask?

I assume they will talk through medicated versus natural FET. I have periods with PCOS but ovulation can be irregular.

I'm also worried about how long I have to wait until FET especially with clinics likely to close over Christmas etc.

Would appreciate any advice from people who have had FET only. Thanks

I think medicated versus non-medicated FET depends partly on your clinic, as well as your own cycle. I would only agree to a natural cycle if the clinic would be prepared to go ahead with transfer on a weekend. It’s extra monitoring of your cycle, or some will do natural modified and give a trigger shot to time ovulation.

Personally I preferred medicated FET as it was more predictable. I did have a mock cycle first.
I have also done natural modified FETs. Some women prefer this as it’s less medication. That’s not a big factor for me. But it might be for you with PCOS.

Good luck with your decision and eventual transfer.

I've done 3 FETs - all medicated (but I have an irregular cycle). Wasn't much discussion of doing a natural FET to be honest with us but was fine with that. Always had much better success with FET - 1 CP, then my DD and current pregnancy (all untested embryos). Found the FET process much less stressful :)

Wishing you best of luck!

@daisypizza @2mumlife

Thank you!

May I ask - how long did your next period take to arrive after the withdrawal bleed?

Have been told I can start a medicated FET on the next period. I had the withdrawal bleed earlier in October and just waiting for this cycle to be over and period to start. Is it normally abit delayed?
Clinic said should come in 4-5 weeks after the withdrawal bleed

Thanks

My period was delayed, I can’t remember exactly I think it was maybe around the 40 day mark
