We are finally doing IVF this month! I’m 36 with amh 3.5. DH tests all ok. We’re doing short protocol starting off with 300iu menopur and will see how I go.
I know it’s rare to be successful on the first round but I want to approach this with positivity. To those who got their baby from their first ivf with a low amh, please fill me with hope! :)

Not me but a friend of mine. Succesful on the first round with low AMH and male factor. First transfer was successful and one in the freezer. Good luck :-)

@SAbs86 Wow and a frostie too - that’s what dreams are made of! Thank you for sharing xx

Hello,

I am 34 with low AMH (4,1) a blocked tube due to potential endometriosis (still on the waiting list for a laparoscopy), and my partner has MFI.

We went through our first cycle of IVF in September. Due to my low AMH I only had 5 follicles growing, but the clinic managed to retrieve all 5.
3 of the 5 fertilised, and they all made it to blastocyst! I got one transferred as a fresh transfer, and I am now 5 weeks pregnant.

I also know it’s very rare to be successful on the first round so I feel very blessed, and honestly I could not believe it when I saw the positive pregnancy test. It’s definitely not impossible so you are right to be positive.

From the number of eggs collected we expected one blastocyst, maybe 2, and ended up with 3, so you never know!

Due to my low AMH, if this cycle hadn’t worked we would have gone for embryo banking as we would love to have 2 children and my AMH is only going to get worse the more we wait.

Sending you baby dust for your cycle!

Hi @YellowTack thank you so much for sharing. I nearly cried after reading your post! Too emotional and i haven’t even started the injections yet 😂. Congrats on your pregnancy, you are so lucky!!

First round was successful for me (low AMH of around 3 I think, and I was 42 at the time!). Also got one normal embryo to freeze from that round which is now my soon to be second baby - so you can definitely get lucky despite the odds! All the best with your journey OP.

Pep1952 · 07/10/2024 07:55

@ellitheelephant wow I’m so delighted for you. Your body has just proven the odds wrong. Incredible! Congrats on your second baby and i hope it all goes well xx

Also had low AMH (can't remember the exact number) and male factor. 33 years old

I did short protocol on 375iu of menopur.
23 eggs collected
17 fertilised
10 made it to day 5 blast
1 fresh one transferred (currently in my second trimester of pregnancy)
9 in the freezer

We struggled to conceive naturally for 7 years, never been pregnant before!

Hope everything goes well for you!

@Goldpanther wowzers!! Did they start you at 375iu menopur immediately? Those are great numbers!! Your low amh must be a fluke then? Lol Congrats on your pregnancy!! X

@Clocloxx well aware of the difficulties even in a perfectly healthy body/couple let alone for someone like me with low amh but as requested this is a positive stories thread only please. I know it’s rare but it helps with my affirmations and I wanna hear all about them! :)

Goldpanther · 07/10/2024 12:38

Yes they started me on 375iu.

Pep1952 · 07/10/2024 13:12

@Goldpanther so pleased it worked for you on your first round. And lots of frosties too. Amazing story! Xx

Hi all, I have an AMH of 2, started IVF in January this year. Been trying for a year already, with 3 chemical pregnancies previously. I only had 3 follicles after stims, which some how all 3 had eggs, fertilised and made it to day 5 blasts. I had 2 transfers, both failed, and then was about to start final transfer but got cancelled due to early ovulation and lining too thin (5mm).

I ended up falling naturally on that cycle (it was either out time on holiday or the quick last chance go after finding out the round was cancelled…) and I’m now 10 weeks.

I know everyone is different, so I’m not going to say it could happen to anyone, but for me, my AMH is very low, I’m only producing 2-3 follicles total and I was pretty hopeless. After having the chemicals too, I just thought that my egg quality will always be low due to the small amount of eggs to choose from.

its still early days and I haven’t let myself get too excited, but hopefully this brings a bit of hope to you. X

We did icsi ivf last September. 5 eggs collected but only one fertilised so only had one chance. We did a 3 day transfer and I’m delighted to say we now have a gorgeous baby girl.

Pep1952 · 16/10/2024 23:40

Thank you so much @ACR7 . It means so much reading your reply as I am getting so apprehensive ahead of my egg retrieval day. Thanks for taking the time to share your story, much appreciated. Xx

@YellowTack Congratulations! 🥂So happy for you 🤗 I wanted to ask whether you had the Endo surgery at all?

ivfjourneyandme · 29/12/2024 11:25

@Pep1952 any updates?

lovelivelaugh63 · 15/01/2025 13:31

@Goldpanther Hi, I have incredibly low AMH, did you do anything different leading up to your ivf cycle? Were there any changes you made? Anything that you would say helped get your numbers? Im starting ivf next month low AMH and male factor too and doctor thinks we'll be lucky to get only one egg. I need as much advice to better our chances

Goldpanther · 15/01/2025 13:57

It was first ever go at egg collection that worked for me, so I don't have any other attempts to compare to.

I just stayed optimistic the whole time, and kept thinking this is the furthest we have ever got, thinking about taking it step by step. Before IVF I'd never even had a missed period, or positive pregnancy test.

lovelivelaugh63 · 15/01/2025 13:57

@Goldpanther did you take any specific vitamins or supplements? Any difference in the food you ate?

I didn't take any vitamins or supplements. I didn't even take folic acid supplements.
My diet has always been good, and I didn't change it in the run up to having IVF.
My partner did make lifestyle changes for the 18 months+ running up to IVF to try improve his sperm count (taking coq10, stopping drinking)

We got our funding through in Feb, decided to postpone starting IVF until we got back from a 2 week holiday in April, and started the cycle in June. We didn't have sex between getting the funding and the positive pregnancy test as we were warned if I fell pregnant naturally (and lost the baby) we would no longer be eligible for IVF. I have no idea of any of it actually made a difference.

I hope everything works out for you!

@Pep1952 just came across this post, I just wanted to share that I am 37 with an AMH of 4.2 (measured last July), my partner also has motility and morphology issues. I went through IVF in October and unfortunately I didn’t respond to the treatment. However, I am now 12 weeks pregnant after conceiving naturally. So I just wanted to give a little bit of hope that whilst chances may be reduced with low AMH they are never zero. I hope the treatment was successful for you, I know how hard it can be to go through x
