To FET this month or not... clock ticking!

I have really long cycles... about 40+ days. This last one was 45 days (!) and today is day 1 and I want to go for it this month... but the timing is fairly bad.

I have work travel each week for the next three weeks, delivering projects around the UK. Some long days in the lead up to transfer and then one event which I am in charge of delivering two days post potential transfer. Its a busy time with some unknown work elements that could make things stressful.

I checked in with the clinic this morning to see how timings would fall with scans, appointments and the transfer day itself. I can fit it in with my current schedule.

Should I go for it this cycle or wait for my next cycle where I have less projects to deliver and less/no travel?

I had two failed FETs earlier this year and I've been on pause with the IVF since May. Wanted to go for it in Aug but bloods were out of date and then my long cycle means here we are, right slap bang in the middle of the busiest work month of the year.

On the one hand i could just hold one more month, look after myself as much a possible and then go in late October... on the other you will never get a perfect month so grab the bull by the horns.

If I go for it I need to start taking my estrogen ASAP, I'm leaning towards holding a month but finding that a frustrating prospect as well. I'm 40 next year and feel like the clock is ticking (although using embryos from when I was 35 and had my DC, so it just a clock in head).

WWYD?

I understand the eagerness to do it now, but as your embryos are already frozen, it won't make any difference if you put if off for another month. Personally, in your shoes I would wait out this cycle as the work schedule is so packed and it would make me more stressed and I like to reduce stress during the transfer cycle as much as I can. On the other hand, time will go faster with a busy schedule, so that is something to consider as well. Go with your gut, I would say. Good luck 🍀

I’m in a very similar position OP, also had 2 failed transfers earlier this year and for one reason or another things have been pushed back. I was hoping to proceed with next steps this cycle but also have a combination of work travel and the previous FET was unexpectedly brought forward which if it happened again would really muck things up. My embryos are abroad which adds another variable. So I am very reluctantly sitting on my hands. It’s the right move for me but really annoying.

Thanks @Serendipity24 and @finiteelement I've decided to hold off this month. Frustrating as it is.

Similarly to you @finiteelement if anything was brought forward, or pushed back, it would be really tricky logistically for me. And you need to be looking to reduce stress during a cycle.

Hopefully you are right @Serendipity24 and time goes faster with a busy month ahead.

IVF is such an annoying process of just waiting and waiting.
