Pelvic ultrasound results

Hello,

I had an NHS abdominal/transvaginal scan yesterday as part of secondary fertility investigations. Report was all normal. No fibroids or cysts etc. I had a free 'mini' consultation with a private clinic the other day as if i do need to go down IVF route I obviously will need to self-fund. He mentioned something about AFC. There was no mention of this on my NHS Ultrasound report. Does anyone know if this means I'd need to do another scan privately so they could check my follicle count? Are private ones generally more detailed in terms of the information provided?

Thank you 😊

When we did IUI at a local NHS clinic I had a scan before hand but they didn't measure AFC and said that it's usually clinics that do IVF that do AFC. When we then went on to do IVF I had my AFC scan (very similar process to a general scan but I assume that they have advanced equipment/training). I hope that helps!

Ah thanks so much for your reply. That makes a lot of sense. I guess I'll need to book a private one then after all. Thankfully there do seem to be some more affordable clinics that include scan as part of consultation, which i need to do anyway.
