Going in to my 3rd embryo transfer

Hi Everyone!

Just looking for some success stories when it comes to ivf. We are currently going into our 3rd transfer. 1st fresh transfer failed and 2nd frozen transfer failed. The clinic don't want to change any protocols as they haven't found any fertility issues with us (same sex couple). How many transfers is average?

I'm 28 and my partner is also 28 (she donated her eggs to me)

Good luck to everyone xx

@NicCam17 I am not of much use as I am only going into my first transfer in less than two weeks now. Have you been doing medicated or natural cycles? Are they fresh or frozen transfer?

Aww good luck! I hope it goes well for you, fingers crossed ❤️

They are using my natural cycle as i have a regular period, just progesterone pessaries. Just beginning to get a bit worried now but I've seen people having 5 or 6 transfers before success so trying to keep my hopes up ❤️ Next one will be a frozen transfer, we managed to get 13 embryos from egg collection x

I’m 13 weeks pregnant from our 4th transfer (first fresh from 2nd collection). Our doctors didn’t change anything in the protocol as he said he was happy with results and it can just take time. It really can be just a numbers game. All the best & fingers crossed for you 💖

Thank you so much for sharing your story! Did you lose hope after a few transfers? I'm so happy to hear you are pregnant, congratulations to you 💖

Definitely - I trusted the doctors but I just felt like maybe it wouldn’t work for us, I had to stop googling & reading MN for a while because you tend to just hear the negative stories.
I was so calm going into the 2nd collection / transfer, just felt “what will be will be” and because I’d done it all before there were no surprises. I tested early in the end because I was so convinced my period was coming, I’m finally starting to believe it now we’ve had our 12 week scan.
The only thing I did differently was acupuncture, I don’t really believe it worked because of that, but it helped my anxiety and kept me grounded during treatment.

You’ll get there n

Pressed send too early - you’ll get there, look after yourselves 💖💖

Amazing! Thanks so much for sharing. I did acpuncture with my last transfer and managed to get 12 weeks of acpuncture done before transfer, unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. I did get a positive pregnancy test by testing early but it was 13 days post trigger shot so I think it was probably that.

Good luck with everything, so good to hear other peoples stories 💖🙏

Same boat - next cycle will be third medicated fet - and beginning to doubt myself and the process. But it is a numbers game. Dosn't help that my ds was conceived on our first fet. Good luck!

You're right, it's mostly luck I reckon but it's a difficult wait!

Good luck to your next cycle 💖

Same sex couple here, also no identified fertility issues. Slightly older than you (my eggs and me carrying, fertility journey been across my early 30s). We did 4 rounds of medicated IUI (all BFN) before moving to IVF. Discovered I don't respond well to IVF, so had 2 egg collections. First egg collection, fresh transfer BFN and FET CP.

Second egg collection (freeze-all). 1st FET is our DD (so our third embryo transfer). And I'm 36 weeks pregnant from our 2nd FET from this egg collection (worked first go).

Its really all about luck to be honest. Wishing you the best of luck!

We had success with our third transfer. I’m now 28 weeks. Sometimes it really is third time lucky! First transfer was fresh (BFN), second was frozen (BFN) and third was frozen (BFP). Same protocol for each.

Best of luck 🤞

Congratulations! This forum has been very helpful, it has picked my mood up!!

We were back at the clinic this morning for a monitoring scan. I'm day 9 and my lining is 5.3mm, they want to see me on Friday again so hopefully I'm ready then. Fingers crossed!! I just can't imagine myself pregnant! Xx

@NicCam17 Honestly I'd about given up. We'd decided the second egg collection would be our last (we were on a 2 cycle Access Fertility package). I actually think 'letting go' a bit helped. We did transfer for my DD just before Christmas - my cycle was a bit delayed, and it was very to the wire whether we could have the transfer done in time before clinic closed for Christmas. We were then obviously quite busy over the festive season, which helped to relax. Got my BFP on new years eve! Its very surreal when it happens, and then the morning sickness kicks in 😂. Its true what people will tell you though - you can't really understand what its like and how your life will change until they're actually born.

Going into sibling round, I was still very reluctant to the idea of possibly doing another egg collection, but didn't really expect we'd be successful with only 2 embryos frozen after it taking such a long time with DD. I was in a bit of shock when I actually got pregnant first time this time. But it does go to show you those 'perfect' embryos are in there somewhere x

Ok so wee update, I have attached a picture! I'm 10 days past trigger shot now and tested the morning of my transfer. There was a vvvvvv faint line that u had to hold a torch up to see (extra sensitive). The attached picture is today after work (only a 2 hour hold on a less sensitive test)

What do you guys think? Going out of my mind lol xx

I'm only 4 days past transfer... nearly 5 days past by 11am tomorrow. And I'm 10 days past trigger shot today.

Do you think this could be my positive or am I jumping in too quickly? Xx

I had my transfer yesterday. The wait begins!

nicky0 · 25/09/2024 00:19

@NicCam17 Same-sex relationship here as well. :)

My partner's transfer last month was successful, and our tests looked very similar four days post-transfer.
We tested out the trigger shot, and I think in our case there was some overlap.
My partner tested every day using a standard test until it was negative, but then there was a very, very faint line on a more sensitive one. We thought it could still be remnants of the trigger shot so we were very cautious, but the line started progressively getting darker each day.

I hope this is the one for you. Fingers crossed! 💛

@NicCam17 I couldn’t see anything on your first pic, but I can see a very faint line on second photo. I would be very tentatively optimistic
