Low sperm count fertility clinic

Hi there,

hoping someone can help clear up some unanswered questions for me

my husband and I have been ttc for 2 years, we’re currently going through tests at the fertility clinic

so far with me everything has come back okay, my serum ferritin was too high and I have been diagnosed with hemochromatosis and I am wondering will this have any affect on my fertility treatment? We have had very limited info from the clinic so far as we don’t meet our consultant until November

my partner has been told he has a low sperm count 1 or 2 million and natural conception is likely impossible we would need ICSI, this analysis was done over a year ago, the doctors messed up originally telling us his sample was fine we only found out a month ago that it was poor. We have made a good few changes to our lifestyles in the last year, he is way more active, better diets, stopped smoking etc. He had a follow up analysis 2 weeks ago but have not had any results just a letter saying following his recent analysis they would like to do another in November, on the letter it said if this appointment falls within my fertile period to phone the clinic and rearrange, could this mean this sample was better? We were once told natural conception wouldn’t happen but now he’s not to have a sample whilst I’m fertile, am I reading into this too much?

The reason why they are asking for a re-test in November, is because the sperm regenerates every 3 months or so.

My husband has low sperm count and we are on the list for ICSI. However, he has been advised at the both clinics we are looking to choose from, to take Wellman Conception & Fertility and also, Omega-3 & Folic Acid (to improve sperm movement).

I take Pregnacare Before Concepcion.

@mommaicsi I've been looking at the wellman cenception, how long has your partner been taking these? Have you noticed a difference if a repeat SA has been done? My partner started on proxeed and to be honest wasn't great at drinking it twice a day, he is booked in for a varicocele procedure in a couple of weeks

@mommaicsi Yes they had told us about the 3 month follow up at the last appointment, I was just getting my hopes up that it said he wasn’t to do the sample during my fertile period as we were told we couldn’t conceive naturally before but now the letter is implying we should still be trying. I don’t know, clutching at straws I guess, I’m so scared of ICSI. Thank you for your recommendations

@waitingforourmiracle how long did your partner wait for his ultrasound? We have been told my husband is to get one too as he has all the indicators of a varicocele. We were told however the ultrasound appointment wouldn’t be coming from the fertility clinic it would be coming from the ultrasound department, not heard a thing yet and getting nervous as I waited a year for my last ultrasound and six months for the results

@Ach3194 to be honest I can't remember for the first one, it was picked up in Feb but we got a positive test from our first round of IVF so we kind of put it on the back burner, unfortunately it ended in a mmc so we started the process of getting it sorted before we go for round 2. I can't remember it being overly long though, couple of weeks maybe? X

@Ach3194 I've just looked back - to get an idea of time frame, can't remember when his first appointment was, beginning of July possibly, but he had a scan on the 23rd June, his follow up appointment was 20th August, procedure is booked for 17th September
