Hi OP and Natty2,
I'm sorry your first cycles weren't successful...
I don't have any success stories to share unfortunately but thought I'd reply anyway as we just had our review consultation following our first (and only) NHS funded cycle. Unfortunately it wasn't successful either.
However fortunately we are in a position to pay to have some privately so will likely try again.
We only got two mature eggs from first cycle on 300iu of meriofert and ganirelix, antagonist protocol. This I think was less than consultant was expecting, even though I do have low AMH. Anyway both fertilised and we got one average quality embryo to transfer but unfortunately didn't stick this time.
Dr. gave us two options try again with my eggs or go to donor eggs. He said he has only suggested the former because our fertilisation rates and embryo development were much better than he was expecting and that we did end up with something to transfer.
The only protocol tweak he has suggested is to replace some of the Meriofert with GonalF. I haven't managed to find any more info on this protocol from looking online but my impression is that this may result in more eggs (I had 9 follicles visible but only two grew to the right size). He also said I could use 3 pessaries/day instead of two as I had some bleeding before test day although he thinks probably not necessary but no harm.
I want to feel confident as there's always the chance the second cycle will be better but of course it could also be much worse.
For background I'm 37, AMH is 5, anovulatory infertility, something to do with the last stage of the ovulation process (they said it was hard to remove the eggs from follicles at egg collection).
@Natty2 thanks for reminding me about acupuncture, I'd been meaning to start some! Maybe not make any difference but I'm willing to try!
Sorry that's quite a long message!
