We are in the process of choosing an egg donor through an egg bank (based abroad but treatment will be in the UK) and finding it very difficult. There is one women who seems by far the best match for my physical characteristics but she is listed as a smoker. Would this put you off? I know if you were undergoing IVF here you would be strongly advised not to smoke.

Yes, I wouldn't use a smoker. Health of your baby is more important than a match by looks.

Honestly? Yes it would put me off, due to the impact on egg quality.

Of course it will put people off. It is expensive and the donors should know they need to do their best to produce the best eggs to give the recipient the best chance!

I'm surprised they accept smokers' eggs.
