Sperm tests and thyroid issues

so for the last 13 months or so I have thought that my failure to conceive was all down to me and my age. However, turns out husband has an overactive thyroid and I’ve read this can cause issues with sperm. I wondered if anyone else had any issues trying to conceive with a partner who has thyroid issues. Also I’ve looked at sperm testing and they all seem to require pre- consultations and post consultations plus actual testing so is working out around £700. Is there anywhere north west people might know that just allows a test without having to pay for consultations? Also heard home testing isn’t reliable. We don’t qualify for a test on the nhs. Thank you everyone

Hi, sorry I realise this is an older post but did you ever get any answers on the thyroid function effecting male fertility? It’s very unclear online as to whether it does it not!

Yes, depends whether it’s over or underactive . Over can affect morphology and sperm count.

Thanks for getting back to me. I will get my husband to book a test to check his, we are being treated for MFI and I have had my thyroid checked and am on medication for it but no one has ever mentioned to get his checked.

how are you getting on with your ttc journey?
