Hi all

this is the 4th time my bloods have now expired over 2k on the same bloods

are there any options at all to do this cheaper ?? Is really adding up

my 12 weeks is up again next week so going to have to shell out for them again

any info or ideas would be welcome

Is this just for hiv / hep B etc!? 2k is extortionate!! Also not sure why they are saying they expire after 12 weeks? Certainly not the case at my
clinic, I had 1 set taken which covered me for for our whole treatment. I think over a year between tests and when I conceived DC1. Only time I had to repeat was when I started treatment for DC2 and cost was part of treatment package

My current ones expire next week at 12 weeks I really don’t want to waste anymore money having the same bloods done !!

gonna see if there is any policy they made it sounded like it hfea regulation

literally paying for nothing !

yup it’s the standard virology which I’ve had done countless times the past year

gonna try check if there is hfea policy so I can try to challenge it at all

@Rebekah77 To be fair, this was a few years ago, but definitely had all my bloods done before covid hit, had a delay in treatment, then had all my treatment and never had to redo them last time

2mumlife · 08/08/2024 13:41

Could you ask for GP to do it?

Rebekah77 · 08/08/2024 13:43

They won’t as it’s private unfortunately

I emailed them and they said it’s HFEA guidelines must be 12 weeks and I’m date for collection

frustrating after 7 attempts to go ahead it’s costing me a bomb in just hiv bloods !

@Rebekah77 , how annoying!!
I had my treatment outside of the uk but had to do bloods before every new stimulation round, not in between, when having multiple transfers. Would you consider any package plans/moving clinics?

Rebekah77 · 08/08/2024 14:00

I’ve spent so much in 20 months and had no treatment I couldn’t afford to move clinics !

just hoping can finally get one round before 2025

Where are you doing the tests that they cost so much? I have recently done virology tests and it cost me £350. I used TDL in London.

Rebekah77 · 08/08/2024 16:49

Our clinic

so for me and partner £590 x4

now got to pay again ! So frustrating
just going to refuse to get it done until we get to stims this time

@Rebekah77 For two persons the cost seems comparable, it's the frequency of the tests that is the problem.

I can't remember if I had to repeat tests when I did IVF in the UK ( had two collections 6 months apart). Currently I am with a clinic in Spain and luckily the tests are valid for a year I think.

Why are your cycles keep getting cancelled/ pushed? Maybe this is what needs addressing as you can't do anything about HFEA guideline. Tell your clinic it's ridiculous they keep asking you to get tested and then don't start the treatment. If they don't cooperate then honestly I would cut the losses and move to another clinic. It's bizarre to waste two years like this when time is one of the most crucial factors in IVF success.

Rebekah77 · 09/08/2024 09:23

Thanks hun @Serendipity24

honestly I’m feeling the same it’s been such a nightmare ! They like to do the virology before stims commence , then they get cancelled and I’m stuck in this loop of them expiring !!

i agree time isn’t on my side !!

first time - awful pain on northeristorone
second - no bleed
third - awful pain & late bleed
fourth - 1lb over
fifth - awful pain
sixth - awful pain - asked to discuss with consultant said let’s try once more with provera

all got to be perfectly timed for surgical dates for a GA also which is usually booked a month ahead

so let’s see what happens but gonna refuse to get bloods until stims are at day 1 as it never happens and costing a fortune !

OP sounds like you’ve had a horrific experience so far. Have you considered changing clinics?

Rebekah77 · 09/08/2024 16:25

If I didn’t have all the meds I totally would have switched already !! @2mumlife

to switch would cost me at least 6k and I’ve spent a fortune already to literally get nowhere ?

hoping I can meet weight next week and maybe get booked for September if they have surgical space

thanks so much

Could you possibly get the bloods with sexual health services or your GP; to save money? I know some nhs services will do routine screeing for these things

Rebekah77 · 22/08/2024 06:16

I contacted the clinic and some local options
clinic policy is they only accept virology done by them

costing a fortune to not even get one round

Very frustrating, I’m sorry

Rebekah77 · 22/08/2024 14:29
