Possible to have IVF success without acupuncture?

I've tried acupuncture for a few months whilst TTC naturally and have found it difficult for a number of reasons:

  1. Quite difficult to squeeze in as a weekly thing when I have a toddler that doesn't go to nursery (and I don't plan for her to start)
  2. Just didn't seem like my thing - I'd lie there the whole time calculating days until ovulation / test date / period or age gaps with my daughter. If anything it made my anxiety worse
  3. Another cost in addition to everything else

Has anyone had IVF success without acupuncture? If needed I will obviously do it again, just really prefer not to.

For context I've done 1 unsuccessful IVF cycle and before that tried naturally for a year. I'm 29.

One successful ivf live birth one more successful conception (16weeks preg currently) never had acupuncture, I would say don’t put yourself under undue stress if it isn’t for you- ivf hard enough as is, good luck!

I’m currently 12 weeks from a FET (originally freeze all due to OHSS). I didn’t have acupuncture. Do what ever is right for you, it’s such a stressful time as it is without adding to it further. Good luck x

Never had acupuncture, currently 6 weeks pregnant after a fresh transfer.

As pp said, do what makes you less stressed!

Definitely possible. I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant after IVF and never had acupuncture. It was never recommended to me, otherwise I would have considered it. I know how stressful IVF can be and it's tempting to give anything a try, but if it's just one more thing to worry about then I wouldn't put yourself under extra pressure to have it. It's certainly perfectly possible to have IVF success without acupuncture .

I’m due to have my first round in September but my private fertility specialist said acupuncture makes no difference to outcomes. The only thing it can do is help you feel more relaxed (though doesn’t work for everyone) so can be good if you’re feeling particularly stressed (could be said for anyone not just those ttc) Dr Tim Child of Oxford Fertility said the same on Big Fat Negative podcast and I’ve read other articles from fertility specialists that all say the same. Good luck! I hope you get your BFP very soon ☺️

Yes...I've been through a few rounds. Ive done acupuncture for probably 3 FETs, these were unsuccessful (either failed, cancelled or miscarriage). I've not done acupuncture for probably another 5 FETs or so. Some of these were also unsuccessful but two of them resulted in my two ongoing pregnancies.

It wasn't a particularly conscious decision each time to do it or not, just depended on how much time I had, my mood and finances.

I do like acupuncture, it relaxes me and I've found it very beneficial for other areas like migraines. But for IVF, I don't feel strongly that it makes any difference.

I had acupuncture for my second round of ivf and it was a terrible round! Only 2 eggs collected both died day 5. So personally I don't believe acupuncture works...

Never had acupuncture and had a successful IVF pregnancy. I do think a lot of these things are fads to be honest. I was a healthy BMI, ate relatively balanced meals and that was it, same with DH…I don’t think anything else made any difference

@strtng I'm 33 DP 31. Having ICSI due to extreme MFI (we were given less than 5% chance of success). I have never had acupuncture. I just took usual vitamins - folic acid, vitamin D and coq10. My first transfer (FET due to OHSS) was successful and I am currently 17 weeks pregnant with my little miracle!
Post transfer I did the McDonald's fries and walked. I didn't even particularly have a great diet! I ate what made me happy and what I fancied. I think as others have said. Do whatever keeps you relaxed.
