Only 5 follicles on my first scan

I'm panicking this weekend. On Monday I started taking the highest dosage of FSH due to having a low AMH level for my age (34, 6.04pmol/l). We're also using donor sperm as my partner has azoospermia.

I went for my first scan yesterday and the nurse said she she could see 5 big follicles. She also said she could see 3 smaller ones which may or may not get bigger.

I've heard that over 10 is the best outcome so feeling a bit scared 😢 I know you lose some throughout the process so more is better. I'm so scared it won't work and we might not be approved for things like Access Fertility because of my lower AMH.

I wouldn't worry if you are only day 5. I'm a bit older than you (37) with an AMH of 5 pmol/L, and I only had 3 after 10 days of stimulation, then two days later I had 4. I think the 10 eggs is a good benchmark if you have that many as you'll go on feeling positive but the nurse who scanned me yesterday said should never write yourself off and it's her experience that often it's people who have less follicles that go on to have successful pregnancies not necessarily those with loads so don't give up hope! Quality over quantity and you only need one good egg! Best of luck for your next scans x
