Do GPs prescribe progesterone?

30, been ttc for 20 cycles with low AMH, but a decent follicle count. I'm waiting for IVF funding and as part of this I've done tests with my GP which revealed (as I expected) that my progesterone is low.

I know that I ovulate due to ultrasound testing, basal body temping, OPKs and EWM.

Whilst I wait for IVF I was hoping I could try progesterone to see if this helped, but my GP is resistant to helping me in anyway at the best of times. Had anyone had success getting a prescription for this / it helping their cycle?

Just to add my progesterone level was 6.7 nmol/l taken at 7dpo of a 24 day cycle

I got some from a website where you pay to talk to a gynaecologist called dr Morton which costs £90 then you have to pay for the meds too. I didn’t need them as such as progesterone was in limits, but wanted to try them and see if they made a difference as i had 3 early losses which they agreed it wouldn’t do any harm. Alternatively you could try and find a private gynaecologist in your area but it would be much more expensive. My gp wouldn’t prescribe any fertility meds they said I had to wait for my referral. Hope you manage to get sorted :)

Thank you so much, I’ll see if I can find dr Morton

Also just to say I’m so sorry about your losses, TTC feels so unfair.

I've been on Cyclogest for a while now due to low progesterone levels, and my GP wasn't keen to prescribe it for me either which was very frustrating. I went through an NHS funded cycle a couple of months ago (no success, unfortunately), and the fertility clinic had prescribed me Cyclogest before I even had a treatment plan in place! I was given 3 months of supply and didn't have to pay for it. Worth checking with your fertility clinic if they can do the same for you. And good luck!
