Clear blue ovulation NO PEAK

I’ve been using clear blue ovulation kit for the first time as my cheapy ones were showing high but I never felt like they were dark enough. I’ve used these all month and had no peak. My periods are always regular, every 28 days. Has this happened to anyone else? I’m worried I'm not ovulating at all.

Hmm. Without being a fertility scientist then it’s hard to say. Maybe you’re missing your peak and only picking up before and after? I’m sorry that it’s causing you concern. Have you had any fertility tests? That’s the only way to know unfortunately.

You can get LH and FSH tested on the NHS (takes a few months to get the appointment) or you can get AMH (the most important one really) tested privately for £450 or so.

How many cycles have you been trying for?

lemonsandpeaches · 14/07/2024 14:11

@Feliciacat I've been trying for 16 months now. I'll look into getting the private test. Thank you.

For that £450 I also got a scan which showed my antral follicle count and checked the structure of my uterus. Antral follicle count combined with AMH tells you about your remaining egg reserve.

Not to worry you but I wish someone had made me more aware of these things before ttc! If it’s been 16 months then to be honest, more in depth testing is a good idea. I hope you get some good luck!

@Feliciacat thank you. I've never heard before and the nhs told me I have to wait two years in my region. I've booked to have the amh and scan done this week with a local clinic.

@@lemonsandpeaches did you use first morning urine and from CD8?

lemonsandpeaches · 14/07/2024 22:21

If there is anything ‘wrong’ and you need ivf then already having the test results from a private place often means you won’t have to wait as long for ivf. I’m on the waiting list for ivf as I’ve been ttc for two years. If I hadn’t paid for a scan and AMH testing then I’d have to wait for those as well before starting ivf (the NHS do test for AMH if it’s part of ivf assessment). So I’ve probably cut my wait from a year to six months.

I hope you get the results you want but in any case, you’re helping yourself by getting these done. Good luck.

Hi @lemonsandpeaches , i had a similar experience to yours and thought I was not ovulating. What I did was check my urine twice day roughly same times each day. I read online that is should not be the fmu. I did it before lunch and before sleeping. If you can, try to do it after you had not drank for around 2 hours (concentrated urine is better). I found i was peaking at day 17. Previously, i was only testsing once a day from d9-d15. It’s a lot of effort (and money!) to test twice a day but it gives you some reassurance. The premom ones are quite good value. The second line should be darker or as dark as the control line. And of course as feliciacat said above, blood tests would be more reliable but they have to be timed well in the cycle too. Good luck!

I have had this problem.

It is worth reading a bit about when LH is typically released from the pituitary and when it then appears in the urine. Some ovulation tests ask you to test at 12pm.

I never get a peak on my clear blue first thing but if i use ovulation tests at around 12-2pm I do get a peak but it is gone by the evening.

some women get a very short peak so you might just be missing it.
