Hello all, just wondering if anyone has used or been in touch with any IVF clinics in Greece? I am in between Serum and Ark if any one has used these clinics before and could share their experiences
thank you

Hi just wanted to follow your post as I will be going to serum in a few months

Gkb90 · 14/07/2024 20:49

Hi @Clocloxx I’ve just sent off my questionnaire for them. I’m stuck between serum and ark. Did you speak to any other clinics before making your decision?

Hi @Gkb90 I spoke with ib alicante, gennet in Prague, a clinic in poland and bulgaria but serum stood out to me the most, I've had 2 failed ivf cycles in Ireland due to low amh and now bad egg quality but I'm only 31 and never got to transfer anything, serum seem to have more knowledge of tailoring treatments and finding any root cause of my bad egg quality. Other clinics wanted to just go higher meds but I was already on 385 stims which is high anyway! Ib in alicante would of been my second choice but flights accommodation were too expensive when I added it all up, this is all only from the consultation so I'm hoping they will be just as good in real life 🤞 I also need 2 trips one for testing and ovarian prp then a second for ivf, do you know what your issue is that is stopping you from conceiving?

Gkb90 · 15/07/2024 15:44

Hi @Clocloxx I defo agree serum really does stand out, I had spoken to two clinics in Cyprus beforehand and serum and ark are in my two that I need to decide out of, I am edging more towards serum as I found out they have built apartments a short walk away from their clinic which is owned by them so finding accommodation won’t be a problem (if they have availability)
I’m currently in the ‘unexplained infertility’ category as my tests seemed fine on paper but I just couldn’t get pregnant, I was put on stimulation medication and injections and still had no luck. This will actually be my first round of IVF, after reading a lot people’s stories I think the level of care abroad is far better and it’s not a ‘one size fits all’ like it is here that’s why I’m just taking the plunge and going abroad

Hi @Gkb90 just wondering did you go with serum? I am potentially due to begin treatment there and it would be nice to hear from you

Gkb90 · 12/09/2024 16:08

@Lara8 hi, I fly out on Monday and have my appointment on Tuesday so I will keep you updated on how I get on

OP posts:
Gkb90 · 22/09/2024 15:57

hi @Lara8 thought I would give you an update as I’ve been here for a few days now, I spent the first 2 days at the clinic doing tests and I cannot fault the clinic and staff their communication and care is great, in these 2 days I have learnt more than I did spending 2 years doing investigations in the UK. I’m back in the clinic tomorrow to start my IVF cycle :)
if you are thinking of coming here I highly recommend it

@Gkb90 great to hear from you. I was wondering how you got on. They have said I need to get a hystereia first of all which was never mentioned in the U.K after lots of investigation. I am a bit nervous about this but they said it’s a routine procedure. Did you have one? I have just turned 40 so I’m eager to get started. Will be flying out in October. X

@Gkb90 hey, just checking in to see how you are getting on. I have my first appointment in two weeks where I will begin the process. Hope things are going well for you. X

Gkb90 · 12/10/2024 01:09

Good luck OP I have been watching your thread with interest as going the IVF in the UK but looking further afield if unsuccessful this time. I hope you have a good outcome.

Lara8 · 12/10/2024 21:35

@Gkb90 I will be thinking of you. You got this! So pleased to hear your positive feedback. I will let you know how I get on in the 1st Nov. Hoping to move quick and do a round before Christmas. Will be nice to see Athens too. I have found all the U.K. fertility treatments I’ve had to be very devoid of emotional support and welcome a warmer more caring Greek way. Best wishes to you xxxxx

Lara8 · 12/10/2024 21:40

Having said that I’ve never had IVF in the UK or anywhere before! Just lots of other stuff.
wishing @Rendang lots of luck for your round x

Gkb90 · 12/10/2024 23:30

Thank you both!
@Lara8 yes definitely let me know how you get on, the midwives are so caring over there and really made me feel at ease especially when I was so nervous going in for my egg collection also the doctors who did my collection and transfer were so lovely and the embryologists. You really do feel cared for over there, I’ve not had IVF in the UK but been through other things over here and you can really see a big difference
Wishing you all the best in your journey xx

@Gkb90 thanks for this. So reassuring to read this. Can I ask how long you had to stay in Greece for in total? I know they close at Xmas so I’m hoping December will work. Xx

Gkb90 · 14/10/2024 00:04

@Lara8 i did everything in one trip so I was there for a bit longer, roughly 3 weeks and it also gave us some time to see Athens when we had free time outside of appointments. The weather was lovely so felt like we had an extra bit of summer xx

Best of luck @Gkb90 ✨️ 🙏 ❤️ did you transfer 1 or 2 embryos?

I'm hoping to be over in a few weeks for eggs collection there! Had a hysteroscopy and ovarian prp with them last week 😁

Lara8 · 14/10/2024 08:52

@Clocloxx hey, how was the hysteroscophy? I am due to have one in 2 weeks. I am so nervous. Were you able to get on with your day after it or did you need to rest? Thanks

Hey lara8 I woke up in slight pain but I think that was from the implantation cuts pain killers sorted it, it was similar to peroid cramps, I was then put to sleep 3 hours later for the ovarian PRP in serum I got home again for 12 mid day had a nap until 2 in the afternoon because i was up from 5am then i went to the beach for the day (no swimming) had a lovely meal out so noting to be nervous about pain is Minimal if any! 🥰

Lara8 · 15/10/2024 12:26

@Clocloxx thanks so much! Really appreciate you taking the time to reply. It sounds like you’ve done really well with this stage. And getting to the beach! Love it! Wishing you the best with what comes next. Stay in touch x

Hi everyone, Just wondering how you have all got on with Serum. We had a phone consultation with them last night and are considering going over. We have a couple of consultations lined up for the UK and Ireland too. It's so hard to make a decision! 🙈 the other clinics we are thinking about are Care and Create in the UK and Therapie in ireland. I am 41 this year and have severely low AMH and only 2/3 follicles and thin uterine lining. X
