Advice for first time ivf

Hi

I’m 37, my partner is 44 and we are doing our first ever round of ivf next month (icsi) planning a fresh transfer (but aware it could switch to frozen) I have a meeting with the nurses about my protocol this week and looking for advice from anyone who has been in my shoes - any questions to ask, things you’d wish you’d known etc! It’s such a big thing and only my sister knows so I’m finding it a lot to navigate

thanks in advance

Hia! Good luck! Have had 4 goes at icsi myself, 2 fresh, 2 frozen, 2 failures, 2 successes (1 dd 1 currently 12 weeks preg)

I think they go through most things with you pretty well so nothing question wise springs to mind however if I was to offer 1 bit of advice; if you look at the process from start to end, it can become quite overwhelming and so many steps where you have to hit certain criteria (down reg, egg growth, retrieval, transfer etc) so I would just really focus on one small step at a time, little milestones along the way, look after yourself physically and mentally, don’t underestimate the power of sharing things your thinking whether to friends/ partner or mn, it’s good to talk,

I wish you the best of luck 💕

Thank you so much 🥰 amazing to hear that it has worked for you. Can I ask if you were offered/ used Zymot? We were offered so I did some research and said yes as my partner has low morphology and based on what I read it seems like a good idea to try.

We were mfi too but nope never heard of that, my partner didn’t take anything but I guess it depends on individual results 🤷🏻‍♀️ but total advocate for trying anything you possibly can (within reason 😂)

@Tha97 good luck! Me and ny partner are going for ivf in september so I will keep up with you if thats ok for any adivce!
If you dont mind answering, what is his morphology and besides that is there any other reason you are not successful naturally?
We are unexplained but my partners morphology is 7% and concentration per ml is just above the minimum of normal level and my dr thinks this could be the issue so they are planning to do half natural fertilization half icsi

Morphology is only 1%, we were told 4% is ‘good’ so 7% sounds like a good number to me. No other know issues but my partner had testicular cancer 10 years ago, he had radiotherapy at the time (no chemo) so I do wonder if this is contributing. Nothing known in my side but I am 37 and partner 44 so no doubt age will be part of it too.
