Timed Intercourse - EWCM - any experiences?

Hello. I'm on my first timed intercourse cycle with gonal f and then trigger shot. I had 1 mature follicle yesterday at 18mm and told to trigger last night (even though I'm only CD9 today). I usually have a lot of EWCM but everything down there is dry and doesn't feel "fertile". My partner doesn't have the best sperm so feel like good quality ECWM would be helpful in my case.
For those who had timed intercourse, did you get any EWCM? Or is this normal for trigger shots?
Thank you x

I found that i was “dry” too when i was doing times intercourse, i added in Mucinex (around ovulation) my second cycle and it helped with my cervical mucus a lot.

I was apprehensive and expected little but the second cycle i caught so can’t say if it was reason why but definitely helped a lot.

I used pre seed too.

@Optimistic66 thanks so much for the reply. It's funny you say this, I actually started on the Mucinex Friday night and by yesterday evening EWCM really picked up! Still getting a good amount today, it definitely works!!
Did you get a positive OPK with the HCG trigger? Mines still very negative and finding mixed experiences online! I have emailed the clinic but won't hear back until the morning now Xx

I did the first cycle get a positive OPK after trigger, but the second cycle i had the trigger was told to take it when i get a positive OPK as it was over the bank holiday i couldn’t have a scan after my day 10. I never got a positive on OPK but then when i went to my CD16 scan i had already ovulated

im 11 weeks tomorrow so still early.

The only other thing i added was baby aspirin I brought over the counter as i heard it was good for blood flow so lord knows if that helped.

I’ve suffered with secondary infertility

Weve been trying just short of two years.

How long have you been trying?

smashedbanana · 07/07/2024 22:12

@Optimistic66 secondary infertility here too. We've been trying for 3 years now with 1 miscarriage last summer at 12 weeks. It's been a long old road and we were told last year we wouldn't be good candidates for IVF because my AMH is sooo low. Trying a few rounds of timed intercourse now before we stop trying altogether, I'm 40 next year and the past 3 years have taken their toll so we need to carry on with our lives if these don't work! You must be thrilled to have your BFP after so long - did they ever know why you couldn't conceive naturally? Xx

Honestly the mental drain is overwhelming, sorry to hear of your m/c, was it a missed m/c? I had one before my son and it so devastating. My AMH is also low which is why they recommend timed inter course first. they said for ivf i would probably need quite a few egg collections. I also stopped ovulating but unsure why.

when your trying to , it feel is like all you see is other pregnant people. i found all my mum friends moved on to the sibling chapter and i was out here still hoping.

hoping it works well for you. Are you going privately? Hopeful it goes well? are you being monitored through scan s?

Optimistic66 · 07/07/2024 22:41

forgot to say my husband has poor sperm morphology and motility but three months worth of proxeed significantly helped his sperm sample

smashedbanana · 07/07/2024 22:46

@Optimistic66 sorry to hear you also suffered a miscarriage. I started bleeding a few days before my 12 week scan.

Yes we were told the same about multiple rounds of ivf and given a less than 5% chance of success, they pretty much told us not to bother!

Were you using Letrozole/ Clomid? I didn't respond well to letrozole so I've been on gonal f injections this month with a scan CD8 which confirmed a 18mm follicle so I trigger on Friday.

My natural cycles have become very long, usually 2/3 months so it's nice to have some help from the medication to get a strong/normal cycle for a change! Yes we are paying privately - how about you?

Hearing from you and your positive story has given me so hope this evening so thank you so much xx

Hey I’m so sorry you went through that.

I used letrozole - my lining was pretty rubbish but the cycle i caught i managed to get it 7.6mm through combination of beetroot juice, vitamin e, castor oil patches and everything else i read. Precious cycle it was 6mm.

My natural cucles were also long so agree was nice to have 28/30 day cycles. We were private too - with kings fertility.

Keep going - it only takes one egg. I was down in the dumps when doing the treatment and never thought i’d be on this other side. Still nervous for my scan! xxx

smashedbanana · 08/07/2024 13:24

@Optimistic66

When is your scan?! Let me know how it goes! How have your symptoms been?

Not heard of beetroot juice, I’ll have a look into that. The injections are meant to be better for the lining than Letrozole, mine looked good on the scan but she didn’t give me an exact measurement.

How have you found Kings? I’m with Bourn Hall, they are nice enough and not “salesy”like some of the other clinics I spoke to but I’ve had to advocate for myself a lot. Thanks to forums like this I felt confident to push and question them on stuff

I’m worried we haven’t BD at the right times - only managed the night after the trigger and the day after that and think I must have ovulated pretty quickly after the trigger. The clinic seemed to think not BD on night of trigger was fine and the day after was more important - anyway I’ll keep you updated - here comes the dreaded TWW!! Arggg

Really nice to hear your story and thank you for your kind words Xx

Best of luck at the scan!
