Hi all

does anyone know what the likelihood of having two chromosomally normal embryos in the one cycle is at age 38/39? We had two embryos make it from our last cycle. I’m 17 weeks pregnant with one (fresh transfer) and we had the other tested and it came back as normal. I know we will likely find out in our 20 week scan, but I can’t help worrying about the stats not being in our favour…

Any insight or positive experiences would be really helpful!

I don’t have stats but I honestly wouldn’t worry! I think many of the chromosomal issues would have prevented the pregnancy from continuing etc and you will have seen them in your trisomy tests etc. try not to worry (though I know difficult)

Thanks @HopefulllHolly! I didn’t have any testing done but hopefully the fact that (as far as I know since 16 week scan) pregnancy is continuing normally is a good sign

Try not to worry ☺️ if you’re panicking you can pay for a NIPT test which tests for things like Down syndrome etc. You can have that done from 10 weeks. Congratulations on getting two lovely embryos! ☺️

@GracePKI I would take the fact that it's working as fab news! In all likelihood an aneuploid would have failed completely or led to an early miscarriage. Also, just because the stats say one thing doesn't mean it would be the case for you. For me, the Dr was expecting 64% euploid for my age but I only got 20%! It may be that your 2 were both euploid and anything that wasn't failed to get to blast in the first place. Good luck with everything.

Thanks @Sofie19 just goes to show how unpredictable it all is - like everything in IVF! Best of luck for you too X

An update on this - we just had our anomaly scan and baby is looking perfect. I know this scan only detects physical issues but I’m hoping the main chromosome abnormalities would have been somehow visible too. Hoping that I can relax a little now and that the second half of the pregnancy goes well!
