Weird period just before starting treatment

I’m due to do a long protocol icsi cycle at the end of the month. My period is due in the 28th but I won’t start down regulation until day 21.

TMI warning—

I took provera last month to delay my period for a few days whilst we were on holiday. I’d spoken to the clinic and they said that it’s fine for me to do this. I started my period 4 days after finishing the provera, but it’s lasted well over a week. I bled as normal for four days, slowly tapering off as usual, but then started bleeding again a day later, with quiet heavy flow, and it’s still very light now.

Had anyone had a weird period before starting treatment? Should I delay for another month? I really don’t want to but don’t know if this will cause issues.

Thanks for reading!

I am in the same position as you regarding timing. My period is due 23rd and on the long protocol. Longest wait ever…just wish it was now 🥲
Is this your first round of IVF?
before you took provera where your cycles normally standard in length. I would ring your clinic and tell them your concerns and get their opinion to be on the safe side. I have never taken it but I know people who have and it’s normally taken them one cycle to regulate their cycle.

@Sineadttc no this is my fourth fresh cycle, I have a two year old from my third cycle.
I’ve always had super regular periods that are always pretty identical with flow etc. Even after not having a period for two years due to pregnancy/postpartum. So it’s abit worry. Yes I’ll ring the clinic, that’s a good idea. Hopefully they don’t think I’m crazy!

@Dove88 fingers crossed it can go ahead as planned for you this cycle.
this is my first, excited but nervous.

@Sineadttc fingers crossed for you too! I always feel so much better mentally once I start the meds, it feels like you’re actually doing something proactive at that point. Hopefully you feel the same and all goes well!

I did short protocol after my first failed cycle and had similar. Had a normal period (5 days) tapered off, then it came back with a heavy vengeance for another 5 days! I had to do about 7 follicle monitoring scans and nearly cancelled the cycle because it was so wacky - my cycles are never like this.

I didn’t cancel, and now I’m 14 weeks pregnant.
