Hi everyone,
please my Nurse appointment is on 4th of June,2024 and I’m seriously starving so I can keep my weight down as my bmi at my last face to face appointment was 30. Will the Nurse check my weight again? And if I’m still not below 30, will my treatment be postponed? Believe me when I say I’ve been really doing my best to keep it down. Has Anyone had weight issues like this during ivf process? What should I expect at this appointment?

Hey - I’d assume that you’d be weighed. I was weighed at all my appointments before I started. If you are having a cycle on NHS then you definitely need to keep
your weight below 30 BMI, and they will cancel your cycle if you are over unfortunately. Once you start the drugs and things I don’t think they weigh you again though, at least mine didn’t.

Would always assume you’ll be weighed

I am checked anytime I’m in clinic

it’s hard for sure but you’ve got this ! If it’s nhs they only check once apparently which takes a bit of pressure off

I feel your pain. I was weighed at every appointment. If you check on the morning and know you aren’t going to be under I would personally feign illness and rearrange as they are super strict.

I was weighed at almost every appointment, this caused me more anxiety and stress than the actual IVF.
One of my later appointments my BMI had raised to just over 31 and I was told I couldn’t proceed.
The weigh gain was after months of IVF meds and a miscarriage which I was furious about and walked out. We already had a frozen embryo and was only waiting transfer.
My partner called the nurse who broke the nurse to us (who was absolutely lovely and as gutted as us) to vent his upset and frustration. She said she would speak to her manager and call us back.
The call enabled us to proceed and a rule was set in that particular clinic that if your weighed and received sign off you can continue with the existing cycle without being weighed further.
We went on to have another collection which they didn’t require me to be weighed for.
I know a lot of NHS hospitals are very strict.
Good luck on your journey x

Hiya I lost 2 and a half stone to get my BMI down. I phoned them when I was at target and they weighed me then said I could get started. Since then I've had another appointment to pick up my medicine and they didn't weigh me. I've got another appointment on Monday and also panicking that they will weigh - supposed to be going out for a meal for lunch that day!!!

Honestly, I’m considering that. I’m literally starving to keep my weight down as quickly as possible. Thanks for this suggestion ❤️
