Hi has anyone done a successful IVF round at 40? If yes how many rounds/transfers did it take to have a baby?

I had an IVF pregnancy, we started the process at 38 and had 2 transfers from that round.
1st transfer resulted in a miscarriage at 8 weeks, 2nd transfer failed to implant.
2nd collection resulted in 5 embryos.
3rd transfer failed to implant, 4th transfer resulted in my baby boy (2 embryos still frozen)
Transfer took place at age 39 with the birth at age 40.
Good luck, it’s a long, emotional and stressful process but if successful it’s worth every tear x

Hello @KG2022 - yes (well technically egg collection a few months pre 40). A lot depends on cause of infertility in the couple.

We’ve had a long journey but this cycle was textbook - we had four blastocysts and first one transferred resulted in successful pregnancy. Now 33 weeks. Three more in freezer.

We've had two full IVF cycles previously, two failed transfers and then twins.

I had the last egg collection a couple of months before 40 and successful embryo transferred a few months after 40 which resulted in my 3 week old daughter. I had three rounds of ivf/icsi and seven transfers in total, PGT-A for the final round was definitely worth it for us, she was our only normal embryo.

IVF baby born shortly before my 43rd birthday. First round at 41 resulted in four embryos, fresh double transfer BFN. Second round (change of meds) resulted in one embryo, fresh transfer BFN. Third round at 42 (back to original meds at my request) resulted in three embryos, fresh double transfer and BFP (singleton). Three embryos still frozen.

Started when I was 39; first round got two blastocysts but one was genetically abnormal and one was high level mosaic. Second round I got four blastocysts (three genetically normal) and I’m now 19 weeks pregnant (age 40) with the first one to be transferred.
