2 Eggs Collected at EC Today

I had my egg collection today. I have low AMH, I am 35. I had 4 follicles throughout while on the highest stims. They collected 2 eggs from 4 follicles. I think she said 1 was empty, 1 egg was immature. I have to wait for the call tomorrow to see whether they have fertilised. I’ve never been so anxious in all my life. Has anyone been in a similar position?

I was on 450mg Bemfola, Leuprolide, they then added Meriofert. I triggered with 2 Ovitrelle and then had my EC 36 hours later. This was the outcome. I am now on Cyclogest pressaries and Lubion injections. This is to prepare for a potential fresh cycle.

Any reassurances and whatever else is welcome as I’m deflated and not feeling very hopeful.

Hey 👋 I’ve been in the same position. I’m on my first cycle. I had 4 eggs on scan, 3 were retrieved, 2 were mature and both fertilised. One made it all the way to be a perfect little day 5 blast and I had it transferred. I’m 9 days past transfer and have had a positive test since 5 days after the transfer.

It’s really cliche to say and I didn’t believe it but it does only take one. My embryologist and consultant both said they’d rather someone have 2 perfect eggs than lots of not so great ones (which can often be the case with people who have lots of eggs).
It’s a really anxious time and we’ll compare ourselves with women who get lots of eggs, but hang in there!

We have a lovely bunch of ladies on the late April/May IVF group and there’s quite a few of us who don’t have big egg numbers, if you’d like to join and have some moral support. 😊

@HopefulllHolly Congrtulations, I am very pleased for you. I will join the forum for some support, I think I really need it. I have been sadly making comparisons. It’s the uncertainty which bothers me but there’s nothing that can be done about that I guess. Thank you for taking the time to share your good news story ☺️

I was you - age 35, 4 follicles, 2 eggs, low amh. I didn’t believe all the only takes one stuff.

however it worked - even though only one of the eggs fertilised. He is now 9.5:) - it really does take one!

as an aside - natural conception is also possible here if you have no other issues. My second was conceived within 1 month of trying even though I was convinced it would take years..

@Ilikeviognier Very similar story, it does take one. I’m really anxious about the phone call tomorrow, I need to relax as it’s making a nauseous. I will update for future Mumsnetters. Thanks for sharing and really pleased it worked out for you.

@PurpleRayne89 I know how you feel, it’s such an anxious wait for that phone call. You’ll either have some lovely little embryos making themselves perfect for you or worse case scenario you’ll have more information for the doctors to be able to make a good decision for your next step. I know that’s not the scenario you’ll want but that’s how I kind of spoke to myself. Sorry you’re having to go through it all, it’s really a horrible wait and I do think the hardest bit of IVF is the waiting and the emotions, but from it some wonderful things can happen.
Those two little eggs have had space to grow and have got all your oestrogen to themselves, so I’m hopeful they’ll be ok. Making lots of plans with your partner, friends and family and doing things that make you happy really help me to distract myself. ☺️ Let us know how you get on, you’re not on your own!

I got 5 eggs but only one made it. Currently 36 weeks pregnant. It really does just take one.

@ACR7 Thanks for sharing ☺️ how old are you may I ask and what is your AMH?

I’m 37 but was 36 at time of the ivf in September. I think my AMH was 2.8 but I got baffled abit with numbers.
