35 follicles? How many eggs?

I'm currently doing my first round of ivf and had my last scan today to count my follicles. I had 35. Obviously some smaller than others. I'm doing my trigger shot tonight. I've been told if I get more than 18 eggs on my egg retrieval on Wednesday then it will be a freeze all cycle due to a risk of OHSS. I'm hoping there will be less than 18 but not sure because of the number of follicles I have! I'm wondering if anyone has a similar story? I'll be grateful for any amount of eggs but really hoping for a fresh transfer this month. 🤞

Can’t share anything re: that many eggs, but don’t discount frozen transfers: for many women they work very well. My fresh failed and my frozen worked - it was wayyyy less strain on my body too.

Good luck!

Hey, I'm not sure how many follicles I had in my cycle but I got 38 eggs, out of those only 8 fertilized as I think I had quite a lot of immature eggs. I think that was quite a big drop off rate but some kind of drop off is kind of normal for each bit of the process. Out of those 8 fertilized , 6 became embryos. One of those became my son in December.

Good luck! 🍀

I've heard frozen egg transfers can be more successful from our nurse. It's more that I'm impatient and don't want to wait any longer ahhhh. But what will be will be ☺️ I need to be patient!

On my first round I had around 20 follicles and 14 eggs- but the fresh was cancelled due to high progesterone levels.

Second round I had 44 follicles and 24 eggs retrieved- so the fresh was cancelled due to OHSS risk.

I've not been able to transfer anything yet but hoping to start the frozen cycle soon. I understand the disappointment if you can't do it fresh as I've been waiting since Jan now! But it's best for your body to be in the best position. It's also good to be prepared in case you can't do it, I was really disappointed the first time because I didn't know that was a thing!

Good luck!

Oh wow that's a lot of eggs! That must be so frustrating but yes definitely best to do what is right for your body. Hoping your transfer happens for you soon. I'm so, so impatient!

I had my first round of ICSI in February, the stims and scans didn't bother me at all, no side effects really, I was told from my scans I would have to have a "freeze all" due to high number of follicles I'm sure it was around 35 too I was so upset at the time but it really wasn't too bad of a wait, so we got 21 eggs collected, 11 fertilised, 11 made it to day 3 then got a massive shock when we got told on day 5 only 1 had made it to blastocyst and was graded 4CC which is poor, fast forward 9 weeks later for transfer and my little fighter beat all the odds and decided to stick around!! I'm now 5 weeks 5 days so still very early days but feeling super grateful, proof it only takes 1 and grading isn't worth worrying about ❤

Oh wow that's amazing news! So happy for you! I've got my egg retrieval tomorrow so superrr nervous! I think I'm just going to tell myself it will be freeze all and go on holiday if it is! I haven't been too bad on the stims either - I've probably been in a better mood than normal but I think it's because I'm excited 🥹

@giaTTC wishing you all the luck in the world! For me personally after the transfer I ate pineapple core the morning off, popped some celtic salts on my tongue straight after, kept my feet warm for a couple of weeks after so socks on all the time and used a hot water bottle on my feet, went for walks, no baths and made sure I was on time with medication and supplements, I know it's more down to the embryo but feel like these little things helped! 💛
