Clinics in Bristol/Bath?

Hello!!

We've been "interviewing" clinics this week and really not sure where to turn. We've had one round abroad and now need to start closer to home (that travel plus ivf is a lot!) and we've just moved from London to the West Country.

Does anyone have any recommendations/ warn offs in Bristol bath area? They all seem to use bcrm as the lab treatment centre? I think I need a consultant who can really help us holistically.

Thank you so so much d

Hi!

I was about to say BCRM as that’s who we are using. Lovely clinic & the nurses are amazing there!!! Always make me feel welcome & at ease and they are always so happy to see & chat about anything! (which makes a huge difference). They even went out of their way to ring me & check on me when I was poorly with an unrelated illness but knew I was worried. It was a weekend as well & the on-call nurse gave me a 10 minute phone call!! It just meant a lot to me and showed how much they actually care about their patients.
I can’t shout about them enough!

is there a reason you wouldn’t be happy to use BCRM or a clinic that uses them for their lab treatment centre?

@fluffyted aaaah that's so reassuring, thank you! No problem inherently, I was just envisioning never seeing the same person twice and rarely seeing a consultant. We're looking at the clinic at spire hospital but them outsourcing tests and procedures to bcrm scared me a bit in terms of consistency of care. Our last clinic was tiny and we always saw the same people but I'm so glad you had a good experience!

I’ve had a good experience with Care Fertility Bath. Had my DS successfully on 1st round of IVF and receiving treatment for (hopefully) my second now.

Thank you for posting this, Fluffyted. I know I am not the OP, but I have been reading up on BCRM’s webpage for a while, trying to decide if they’re the clinic I want to go for. I have always leaned towards this being the case but it’s so nice to hear someone’s experience there. I would love to go to their open evening next week.

I had treatment with BCRM. I can wholeheartedly recommend them. It is quite a big clinic and when going through scans and blood work, you see lots of different nurses but everyone was lovely.

An important aspect for me, in retrospect, was egg collection.. they used plenty of sedation and gave me added pain relief afterwards, which was much needed after 17 eggs were collected. My friend used a clinic in Bath and said she felt everything during egg collection.

My beautiful 6 month old is napping next to me right now and I've got 3 additional embryos in the freezer so I'm more than happy with the results :)

@SherryPort18 I had the same experience with egg collection!! Though I have nothing to compare it to as I’ve only had one collection so far but it was actually really well done and the pain wasn’t even bad when I woke up! Only needed paracetamol to take the pain completely away so I was really happy with that.

I just find the whole team really friendly & easy to get ahold of and they all seem to be happy to chat even about the most simplest of worries I have! X

@SherryPort18 I’m so pleased to hear BCRM helped you become a parent. I contacted them yesterday and have booked myself a place on their open evening on July 3rd as they focus on IVF via donor sperm (I am doing this as a single woman).

Thank you, and also @Fluffyted for sharing your experience there. So, so helpful x
