Ovarian cyst

Does anyone have any experience of an ovarian cyst being drained? I have a large (9cm) cyst on my ovary. It was detected during a FET cycle which got cancelled. The plan was to rescan me when my period arrives. The rescan happened today and it's still there.

The doctor advised surgery is best to deal with it however it's also an option to have it drained and go ahead with FET the month afterwards. The only risk with this is that the 'shell' of the cyst remains and it may fill back up with fluid.

Has anyone had a cyst drained and this not happened? Or has anyone had it done and it's filled back up?

I've had surgery before and it was to deal with an ectopic and a large cyst at the same time. It was a major procedure tho as it couldn't be done key hole and I really want to avoid anything like that again!

I had a large cyst drained on day 2 of my IVF cycle- the procedure is super simple, it's the same as an egg collection.

In my experience even though it was successfully drained, some fluid did come back in that cycle due to stims and that ovary didn't respond fantastically - the nurse said it was bruised.

That being said I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant from that cycle, so I can't complain!

I have had loads of scans throughout the pregnancy and interestingly have never been told I have a cyst so I presume it's gone - prior to that it had been stubbornly hanging around!

@JazBag thank you for your reply. Do you mind me asking how big your cyst was? Apparently it is quite likely it will come back again and refill with fluid. I'll hopefully be going in to a FET straight after, but I'm just concerned it will grow big again if the transfer isn't successful.
