Pink spotting straight after FET

Hi All. I had my FET this afternoon - this is our third transfer and second FET after a miscarriage and BFN so we are desperately hoping for some luck this time. An hour or so ago - around five hours after my FET - I had some light pink spotting when I wiped 😢. It was very light - only on wiping but definitely there - and hasn’t (yet) developed into anything more. Has anyone had spotting so soon after the embryo transfer procedure? Could a successful outcome still be possible or is this over before it’s even really started? I was feeling so hopeful - this has really thrown me! 😭

I did start another thread with a progesterone question but this is now a more worrying concern. 😓

I’m going to phone my clinic about this tomorrow morning but I’d really welcome any thoughts / experiences anyone can share. Thank you.

I had something similar and I’m nearly six weeks pregnant! Your cervix can be irritated after the catheter goes in. Wishing you all the best!

Thank you for your reply, @AnxiousAndHopeful. That gives anxious me some hope! Huge congratulations on your BFP. You must be so excited!

@Elevenkinds85 just to add to the previous post, my clinic listed spotting/bleeding as being quite common after the embryo transfer.

Hope you are feeling ok. I also had two failed transfers; the third FET has been successful and I’m now 9 weeks. Fingers crossed for you.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, @Runner77. I know what you (and your clinic) have said about the possibility of spotting being irritation from the transfer procedure makes sense. I’m sure my clinic will say the same. It just feels so upsetting to have seen even a little spotting so soon after transfer. But it hasn’t continued so I’m going to try and think positively that there might still be hope for the two weeks ahead.

Huge congratulations on your pregnancy. 9 weeks - you’re getting through the first trimester! I hope you’re feeling well and excited!

sounds like cervix irritation from progesterone pessaries and/or the procedure. I would call them to ask. after my transfer, i was also prescribed extra progesterone due to spotting.

Thank you for your reply @contentsmayb. I phoned my clinic and the nurse said exactly that about yesterday’s spotting probably being irritation from the procedure. I’m still feeling worried but the nurse said my progesterone doesn’t need increasing because I’m already on a lot (3 cyclogest pessaries plus 1 lubion daily) and my progesterone level was 50 the day before transfer. I hope so much that I’m still in with a chance! And I hope things are going well for you wherever you might be on your own journey. Thank you again for replying.

btw, i had to switch to rectal progesterone because vaginal was causing me so much spotting. any sort of vaginal pessaries (for thrush for example), was causing me spotting again....i think during ivf/pregnancy your cervix becomes very sensitive.

yes, your progesterone dosages sounds okay. i was on 2 cyclogest+ 1 lubion (when i was spotting heavier, they told me to do 2 lubion)

hope all works out for you!

Thank you, @contentsmayb. I’ve heard that cyclogest pessaries can irritate the cervix so hopefully yesterday’s spotting was either that or irritation from the transfer procedure itself. Thanks for reassuring me. Any spotting is so worrying, isn’t it?! But at least it hasn’t continued. It’s going to be a long two weeks but I’m going to do my best to stay positive! I hope all’s going well for you x
