2 zero blast cycles

Hi ladies,

Trying to assess my options after a second cycle produced zero blasts. Egg collection went better this time round with 13 eggs and 9 fertilised, but at 41 my consultant says my egg quality is really poor and none of them got beyond 4 or 5 cells. Is it time to give up or worth trying another clinic and a different protocol? So conflicted between not wanting to throw money away on more rounds with little hope, and thinking that I should keep trying while I’m still getting a decent number of eggs. Are clinics abroad any better? Any advice would be great!

Hi Op, I want to say don’t give up yet.

I have done 3 collections at 41 (in the past few months, the last was a DuoStim); the last round prior to the last 3 produced no blast, so I watched what I ate obsessively, took all my multi-vitamins + took traditional Chinese meds to boost egg quality. I also put my husband on a similar diet, we only drank decaf, cut out processed food and limit sugar. The sperm takes over from day 3, so the man needs to put in some effort too.

Definitely look into options abroad. My DuoStim
was done in Prague. I found them a lot more efficient so it’s in a sense less stressful (as compared to the not-so-great experience I had in the uk) so, better eggs were produced.
