Beta confusion- miscarriage

We went to A&E on Thursday because my hcg plateaued (It was 100 at 8dpt and only 140 at 14dpt)and the doctor on the phone thought I had symptoms of an ectopic. They repeated my bloods and it had risen to 152 in 24 hours.

Thy asked me to go back today (48hs later) and it's 300. I would be 5 weeks today but Im assuming there's no hope with numbers like these? They told me to keep taking my drugs just in case but seems rather pointless! Any advice, so grateful received x

This is very reminiscent of me last August and September. Eventually I was diagnosed as PUL - pregnancy of unknown location. I did eventually start bleeding and they stopped testing my hcg because it was pointless. This was on a background of 4 maybe 5 previous early mc so I didn't have any expectation of it working out for me.
I don't think this pregnancy sounds viable I'm sorry.

I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this, @missmam. After all we go through with IVF, a situation like this feels very unfair. I went through something very similar with slow rushing hcg after my first fresh transfer last year. Like you, my first hcg reading was 102 then it slowly climbed up to 281 over the course of two weeks. Because my hcg was nowhere near doubling, I was told to come off my drugs (progesterone and blood thinners) soon after my second hcg result (of 152). A possible ectopic was suspected but as I had no ectopic symptoms my consultant thought it was more likely to be a biochemical pregnancy. Do you have any specific ectopic symptoms? When I was six weeks with hcg at 278 I had a big bleed which my consultant classed as a miscarriage because my hcg dropped to 60 the day after the bleed. My heart goes out to you in this situation.

Thank you so much, the bleeding has actually started this morning so hopefully my hcg will go down soon too. You're right, with ivf it feels like you already gin through so much to get to this point! And it was genetically tested embryo so who knows what went wrong? I'm sorry for your loss x

I’m so sorry to hear this has happened with a genetically tested embryo, @missmam. This journey can be so hard. I hope things resolve quickly for you now your bleeding has started.
