Slow blastocysts

Hi - just wondering if anyone has experienced this or has any success stories.

I have low AMH and have done 3 freeze-all cycles. For two of our cycles now, we have had 100% fertilisation rate and 100% conversion to blastocyst … except they don’t reach the expanded stage on day 5. Our first cycle only resulted in one expanded blastocyst of very poor quality on day 7. We are currently on day 5 of the third cycle with three blastocysts at the “3” stage (one before expanded) but not developed enough to freeze.

I can only find information on why embryos arrest before blastocyst, but nothing about reaching early blast stage and then failing to develop. I’m not sure if it’s an egg quality issue or a lab conditions issue. Super frustrating.

@Leaf86 I am exactly the same but unfortunately can't offer any answer. I've had 2 cycles. 1st cycle we got 4 eggs. 2 mature and both made blast on day 6. Graded 2BC and 4BC. We had three transferred together but was an early chemical. 2nd cycle we got 2 eggs. 1 mature but not fertilised the other immature. However they kept the immature one overnight and it matured and fertilised. It made blast on day 6 (well, day 7 really but day 6 after fertilisation). Graded 4BC again. I'm currently 4 days post transfer.

When I asked the embryologist about slow developing they said it was a mix off egg and sperm quality. My husbands sperm analysis came back fine but I do have DOR. Given I have only ever got day 6 BCs on two different protocols I can only assume I have poor egg quality.....

Would be interested to hear others stories / theories too!! X

@Leaf86 correction - we didn't have THREE transferred together, I meant to say we had THEM transferred together 😂😂

I can't offer any advice either as I'm in a similar situation 💔 1st round of ivf 4 mature eggs, all failed to fertilize.
2nd cycle 2 mature eggs 2 fertilized by icsi, doing great up until end of day 4 when growth slowed! Was ment to do a fresh transfer this morning got the call that one doesn't look great hasn't reached blastocysts and the other one hasn't reached blastocysts and only partially formed cells.
I asked about egg quality the embryologist told me there was no resistance on my eggs when been fertilized by icsi which could indicate bad egg quality, I thought by been age 31 and healthy my eggs should be good quality, obviously not. We are at a total loss!
Did you get anyone information from your clinic? X
