Success stories for IMSI IVF / Prednisolone after recurrent miscarriage

Hi everyone

I will be going through our 4th egg collection with IMSI IVF in the coming weeks, looking for success stories, as feeling bit low, scared and really really anxious.

A bit of our back round, I have just turned 40, DP is 45, I have a 20 year old son from a previous relationship. DP has no kids.

Previous cycles below -

1st - ICSI fresh cycle (Nov 22) - BFN
2nd - ICSI fresh Cycle (March 23) - BFP MC at 9 weeks
3rd - ICSI FET (June 23) - BFP MMC at 7.5 weeks
4th - ICSI Double fresh transfer (Oct 23) Both Implanted and MMC both at 8 weeks

We have had all the tests done for recurrent miscarriage and all have come back ok, my partner has had a Karyotyping and Y deletion test, all came back ok.

I am currently waiting on my results from a full ERA test, which will pin point exact time for transfer and if any problems with my lining, should have these back within next 2 weeks. (had to take all the medication you would in a FET cycle and instead of a transfer the biopsy was taken)

I am currently on Microgynon and due to stop on the 20th, have a few days break, then start into stims again, with the likely hood of having any eggs retrieved frozen, to have a FET (depending on results of era).

Protocol will also be the same as previous cycles but I will also be taking the steroid Prednisolone 10mg.

We have opted for IMSI IVF this time, I have read up on this and it does sound a great add on, but I have only found a few threads on here in relation to it.

Does anyone have any success stories at all? Even success stories of a successful round after using Prednisolone please?

Thanks in advance

Sorru for your losses. Did you have the MC's tested? Did you have D & C's?

You could get the Bondi Protocol on IVF which consists of Prednisone, aspirin, clexane and progesterone.

Prednisone 10 mg is at the start, if pregnant should increase to 15 mg.

Hi @Olivie12, thanks for responding,

we didn't have the mc tested, as the 1st was natural and the others were medicated.

Our Dr isn't keen on providing aspirin / blood thinners, said the steroids would be best, as I have brought this up a few times

Hi, I had a successful pregnancy on prednisolone, following five naturally conceived miscarriages. My case was a bit complicated though as I was also on aspirin and Clexane for a clotting disorder. We also did PGT-A to ensure the embryo was chromosomally normal, as my husband had DNA fragmentation.

Have you considered having the embryos tested (PGT-A) on this round, to ensure they’re chromosomally normal?

@sweetpea2000 Can I ask how much aspirin and clexane were you on please? And together? My current clinic has prescribed either a 100mg aspirin or 40mg clexane; and they said not to use it together. My previous clinic prescribed 75mg aspirin + 20mg clexane. So just hoping to see what others are on, especially when you had success. Thanks!

@blahblahetc I was on 75mg Aspirin and 40mg Clexane daily from pre transfer until 24 weeks. This was for a MTHR/ PAI-1 gene mutation.
It may be different depending on whether you have a diagnosis or they’re just recommending it empirically, I guess?

Thanks @sweetpea2000 that's useful to know.

My diagnosis was sticky blood, although don't think my blood flow is too bad according to the sonographer... I'm just unsure why my current clinic said not to use them together (and I'm like I'll use everything to give me the best chance!).

@blahblahetc I just checked and I actually took the Clexane from pre-transfer to 24 weeks, but only started the aspirin at 8 weeks (until 36 weeks).

If you wanted a second (third?) opinion, you could see Raj Rai at St Mary’s. He specialises in this and does a test called the Thromboelastagram (TEG) to assess what dosage you need. He checks again in early pregnancy. It costs about £350 for a consultation and £80 for the test, I think. When I saw him the lead time was only a week as well, though you often have to chase for your appointment and results. His contact details are on his website.

Thanks @sweetpea2000 I swapped over to 40mg Clexane yesterday .. I’ll ask my doctor the question if I should have both if I (hopefully) get my BFP!
