What happens when you move house during IVF?

Hello,

Currently based in Glasgow Southside, starting letrozole this month, and another year long wait for ICSI. We are considering moving house to Strathaven in South Lanarkshire. My question is what happens when you move house during treatment? Will things progress as normal at another trust? Will this delay treatment?

Hey I reccomend coming on the Scottish ivf thread to ask that.

Where does ivf in South Lanarkshire anyway? Sometimes people get sent to the royal out of area?

Hi @WanOvaryKenobi sorry I can’t help much with your question however we’re based out this way and attend GRI (we are self funded though!). I wouldn’t think it would make too much of a difference but you could always contact one of the hospitals to ask the general question? X

Hey, our situation was moving from London to Ayrshire. We were sent right back to the start of the process, my gp said she had no possible way to fast track it, and they were very verrrrry slow themselves, losing paperwork, saying they'd done things they hadn't. It was very frustrating. They also implied we had moved house solely for the purpose of ivf. Oh and suggested adopting instead. You can tell I'm still so angry.

But... maybe it won't be the same for you. Scotland and England are different NHSs. My advice would be call your new surgery right away, or ask where you've been transferred for your waiting list place to be transferred immediately. Maybe they'll just go by your original referral date. Don't be afraid to be annoying (I just trusted things were being done when they weren't). Good luck!

So NHS Lanarkshire use Monklands hospital for IUI and I think they can also prescribe ovulation induction drugs, so if you lived in SLC this is where you would go initially. If this didn't work or wasn't suitable and it was felt ICSI would be a better option then you would be referred to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

@Nosejug yes because it would be less disruptive to move your whole life from London to Scotland than to just pay for some IVF. What a twattish and unprofessional comment!

Hi everyone, thank you for your comments. After a lot of digging I managed to get a hold of the personal secretary of the consultant who is in charge of my letrozole and she has confirmed I can stay with them if I phone and update my address.
