Hello,

I am a professional acupuncturist. There is an acupuncture protocol, the Paulus protocol, that has been well studied and proven to increase the chances of a live birth. It involves two acupuncture appointments within 24 hours of the embryo transfer.

You can read a good meta-analysis here:

There is no good quality evidence to support use of acupuncture to improve fertility treatment outcomes and it is not recommended by the HFEA. No harm at all having it if you enjoy it and think it may help your well-being, but it won't change the outcome of any treatment.

Hi @CEllenx I have had the same acupuncture pre-treatment and on the day of transfer (before and after as @WonkyFeelings said) in all of my 4 attempts: 2 fresh, 2 frozen. 1 was successful, 2 unsuccessful, and in the tww right now.

So, for me, I can't say it made any difference to the outcome but I love it. It really helps me zone out and stay calm, especially on transfer day when I'm sure I'd otherwise be a ball of nerves, and that's definitely a huge benefit.

If it helps you feel good, go for it! It's a stressful journey and anything that helps is always well worth it, I think 😊

Hello - I did it for 1 cycle, that included an FET with an euploid and it didn't help. I didn't find it relaxing (but that's prob down to my restless personality).. so I would say only do it if you enjoy it as the benefits, in my opinion, are inconclusive.
