Hello all, I am starting IVF next month and I have read about the benefits having acupuncture before starting.

Would anyone recommend starting Acupuncture or have experienced the benefits ? 🙂

Hi I'm wondering did you have any success with this?

SErunner · 30/11/2024 07:40

There is no decent quality evidence to support it having any impact on fertility (positive or negative). It won't do any harm and if you enjoy it/it relaxes you there is no reason not too, but in terms of trying to influence outcome of fertility treatment it's wasted money.

Had my worst cycle when I had acupuncture 😂😂 x

Nickeigh · 01/12/2024 19:40

Oh gosh. Thank you all for the feedback. I didn't want to waste the money on something that isn't really proven. Also, I definitely don't need anything to mess with my cycle lol

I had acupuncture for a few weeks before my ICSI, and it really sorted my cycle out, much more regular than before I started. My acupuncturist specialises in fertility and I think it also helped me to feel like I was doing everything I could to make it successful. She also took a detailed history and tailored every appointment to my ivf treatment. We had 17 eggs collected (despite very low amh) and 15 mature. 5 fertilised (MFI) and 4 blasts. 1 grade A blast transferred on Monday and followed up with an acupuncture session afterwards. 🤞🤞 it was worth the investment for me! Hope this info helps and good luck x

It's wasn't the acupuncture that resulted in that outcome...

@Nickeigh if acupuncture is something that you really enjoy and it relaxes you, especially when going through IVF then I'm sure it'll be money well spent in your circumstance. But it's definitely not the miracle add on that will give you a successful cycle. I didn't find it particularly did anything to how I felt ie relaxed, so I would waste my money on it again. I too went to a fertility specialist and paid the price for it haha x

Lozzy000 · 06/12/2024 14:11

@Nickeigh sorry, meant to say I WOULDN'T waste my money on it again x

CEllenx · 06/12/2024 21:09

Hey guys I also had a few sessions but to be honest it started getting costly and wasn’t that much relaxing for me to be honest ! I still ended up with lots of eggs and embryos so I wouldn’t do it again !

Thank you all for the advice. All the places that were talking about acupuncture made it sound like this is what would solve all the problems. From the sounds of it, I don't think it's for me. I appreciate all the feedback
