TWW - right now! 4DP5DT

Hey

Anyone else in the TWW?

We are a same sex couple on day 4 post 5 day FET on Thursday 7th. We have 3 failed IUIs under our belt so far and this is our first go at IVF.

I know it doesn't help and ends up making you miserable BUTTTT having seen some people get faint lines at 4dp5dt I took a First Response this morning and it was stark white, the starkest, like staring into a snow bank - it's so depressing even though I know it's early days I just feel like it won't work again. I don't understand how people get faint lines at 4dp5dt as I've read some literature that says HCG doesn't start being made until day 6?

Anyone else on their TWW going mad?

x

Hey I didnt want to read your message and just leave it at that. I've got my blood test tomorrow to confirm whether this fresh transfer has worked for us however I've had light bleed yesterday and well it just feels like my periods are coming so I know it hasnt worked which honestly speaking I have no words really. I keep being hopeful for a FET but also gutted that this one didn't stick. Good luck to you.

lisbeth1 · 11/03/2024 18:33

@Sherr33 thoughtful of you to reply, thanks

I will keep my fingers crossed for you for tomorrow ♥️

Hey, don’t stress!

We did 2 IUI’s previously (also same sex couple) and recently had our first IVF cycle. I tested on 4dp5dt and was blank white too, take it as confirmation that the trigger is definitely out of your system!

We waited then until 7dp5dt and got the most faint positive that then got mildly stronger each day until day 12 when our clinic took the results.

Try and relax which is easier said than done I know! And feel free to message if you have any more questions! Good luck

lisbeth1 · 12/03/2024 06:45

@Btowngirl congrats! Thanks for your thoughtful comment.

How far along are you now? I tested again this morning at 5dp5dt. I couldn’t wait; I was on and off awake all night with dreams about testing. Blank white again, I am just so tearful and deflated.
We didn’t use a trigger this time so can’t even be cheered by that lol.

Btowngirl · 12/03/2024 07:04

Honestly I so understand that feeling it’s horrible. Waiting is horrible but blank tests are horrible too! When I say my day 7 one was barely a positive though I can’t stress that enough, I did the exact same as you in reference to all these 4/5day post transfer positives people seem to get, I don’t get it lol. It seems like you are committed to testing every day now then 🙈😅 are you using early detection ones? If my maths is right 5dp5dt is even too early for the early detection (6 days before you are due on I think?).

I am 7+4 today so still really early days!

StormsPassIVF · 12/03/2024 07:36

Hey @lisbeth1 we are on the same days, I am 5dp5dt.

This is my second transfer, last one was in September.

OTD is 13 days so 20th and I will be testing on 19th only a day early because I have an appointment with my endocrinologist that day and he will need to know the result otherwise I would have waited the extra day.

The reason I am not testing early is because I think it can for some create a lot of stress. I’m here enjoying the TWW and looking after this embryo for as long as it want to stay with me.

Wishing you all the luck on this round!!

lisbeth1 · 12/03/2024 08:36

@Btowngirl ah I’m so excited for you! Fingers crossed for a smooth pregnancy :)
did you test days 4/5?
I don’t want to test every day but when time passes so slowly my resolve often goes after several hours! It’s the inaction for me that’s so hard. I am using first response early result, yes. My period app says I’m due in 3 days but I won’t get my period whatever happens as I’m on ten thousand bazillion progesterone pessaries. But from my FET research really the HGC shouldn’t start being produced until 6dp5dt - but why then do some people get day 4 and 5?! Lucky bastards 😂

@StormsPassIVF that's a nice way of looking at it :) 20th is my OTD too. Best of luck to you!!

Btowngirl · 12/03/2024 10:21

@lisbeth1 aw thank you!

I tested day 4 which was definite negative and then didn’t test again until day 7 and then I tested every day until day 12 to compare results. Then I checked every Sat morning for a few weeks with clear blue weeks indicator so I could check my HCG was going up prior to our scan with the clinic at 6+5 🙈 part of me feels like they’re lucky testing positive on days 4/5 but part of me thinks it must be fluke from the trigger and it’s lucky they wind up pregnant. We checked early with IUI and got false positives from the trigger it was horrible

lisbeth1 · 12/03/2024 10:25

@Btowngirl oh that is so awful Re: false positives from trigger. You poor loves. I did a ClearBlue test on our 3rd IUI not knowing they are awful for showing false positives. I saw a faint line and for the whole day thought I was pregnant, I was devastated when I realised it was a mistake. So heartbreaking isn't it <3

I am going to try my absolute bestttttest not to test tomorrow...

I can totally imagine doing the same re: checking line progression lol. It's so hard isn't it. Interesting point about the trigger for those on 4/5, it could be that!

Btowngirl · 12/03/2024 11:53

ah I ended up annoyed with myself for testing early despite the advice, didn’t stop us doing it this time though! So hard to resist isn’t it. The clear blue are awful that got us previously too, we used a combo of cheap early detection Amazon ones and first response I think this time! (Until the weeks indicator ones). When have your clinic told you to test? I found that once I had my FMU if I hadn’t tested I figured it was a waste after that anyway as the urine wouldn’t be concentrated enough 😬

lisbeth1 · 12/03/2024 13:19

@Btowngirl yeah super hard to resist! Our official test day is 20th, so next Wednesday. Maybe I will have my FMU tomorrow without testing and that'll be my way to avoid testing haha

lisbeth1 · 13/03/2024 08:26

@Btowngirl didn’t manage to hold off on testing this morning and sadly a stark BFN again. Keep dreaming about getting a positive so I always wake up hopeful. Now I think I’m out, as I also (gut feel) don’t feel like it’s worked. I was so confident it would! 😥now I have months to get through to try again sigh. And I’m turning 35 in April

Capybara95 · 13/03/2024 09:09

Hi everyone, hoping I can join as I’m in my 2ww also. Only had my transfer on Monday so think that makes me 2dp5dt. Going to be a long two weeks!! For anyone that has been through this previously do tests always need to be done in the morning? I would really like to do them in the evening so my husband isn’t going to work after but I know morning is advised.

@lisbeth1 sorry to hear your test this morning was negative. It’s still early days though I don’t think I would count yourself out yet!

lisbeth1 · 13/03/2024 09:35

@Capybara95 welcome! I hope this TWW is kind to you and you can hold off testing as long as possible!

I think it is recommended to / most people use FMU (first morning urine) as it is most concentrated. You can test in the evening but I would suggest trying to hold your urine for a few hours before (as many as you can) to give it the best chance of showing up anything! X

OP posts:
Capybara95 · 13/03/2024 10:21

@lisbeth1 thanks for the advice! If I do test in the evening it will hopefully not be until about 10dpt so hopefully there will be something to show up by then 🤞🏼

lisbeth1 · 14/03/2024 08:31

How’s everyone doing today? @Capybara95 how you holding up?

I got another stark negative this morning at 7DP5DT so counting myself out now and need to process that as I was expecting first IVF to work. It’s all very sad and demotivating.

OP posts:
Capybara95 · 14/03/2024 08:48

@lisbeth1 I’m ok thanks. Just feels like every day is so long but trying to relax as much as I can while also making sure to exercise but then worrying about over exercising lol. Just over thinking everything I do!

I’m so sorry to hear that. Thinking of you today. Do you have frozen embryos?

lisbeth1 · 14/03/2024 08:59

@Capybara95 oh it’s so hard isn’t it! When’s your official test day?

We have two more frozen embryos, this one was our first frozen embryo transfer.

OP posts:
Capybara95 · 14/03/2024 09:17

@Capybara95 its not until the 23rd so feels a lifetime away right now!

That’s great you have 2 frozen as well. I know it probably doesn’t help how you’re feeling right now but hopefully it will when you are ready to go again

Sherr33 · 14/03/2024 17:33

My fresh transfer failed. I was told that I would have to wait until I was called for an appointment to start FET. But me being me I couldn't wait too long so I contacted my clinic and I have 10th of April telephone consultation to discuss what is next for us and when and how wel proceed with the FET. I mean I wish I could get started straight away but atleast I have a date to discuss things for now.

FlowerWheel · 15/03/2024 11:13

Hi, 3dp5dt here. Our clinic says it’s not a negative until a negative blood test 14 days post transfer. Wondering when to consider this FET hasn’t worked or the latest people get a positive? Have looked at the finger prick at home HCG blood tests on Amazon, but will keep going with pee tests and the blood test on OTD

lisbeth1 · 15/03/2024 14:58

@Capybara95 I'll be thinking of you! Stay strong in the wait :)

@Sherr33 I'm sorry to hear about your failed fresh transfer, it's so upsetting isn't it? It's also so rough waiting for an appointment to be set up but at least you have something in the diary now. Hope the time passes quickly for you!

@FlowerWheel you are early days :) I will be thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed!!! Let us know how you get on. Are you planning to wait until your test day to test? I think when people get positives depend on the person. Personally, I've had another stark negative at 8DP5DT so I would be extremely surprised if a viable positive followed on from that. I consider myself out. I think from google research that between 4-8 days post transfer most people expect to get at least a squinter of a positive BUT that doesn't mean that's always the case and that's why it's always best to follow medical advice. I will be staying on my meds until negative on official test day, for example.

OP posts:
Btowngirl · 15/03/2024 15:45

@lisbeth1 sorry to hear that ❤️

@FlowerWheel I think it’s so so variable between clinics. Ours said do a FMU at 12dp5dt and call them with the results then then confirm with a viability scan at 6 weeks + gestation!

FlowerWheel · 15/03/2024 16:09

Sorry to hear about everyone’s failed transfers.
@lisbeth1 already started testing pre transfer! Testing out the trigger shot so there was no confusion if got an early positive. I think I read it was something like 10-14 days some people can test positive for after triggering?
