Tips/Advise for Embryo Transfer

Hi guys the question is in the title does anyone have ANY (dont care how odd) advise or tips for Embryo Transfer?

And what did you all take with you on the day?

What did you do after you left the hospital on the day?

Rest days? Foods to eat? Work?

Hi,
Sadly my first transfer wasn't successful, but I did quite a lot of reading on this beforehand and personally found it quite helpful to have some 'rituals' to follow to feel like I might be doing something positive to help:-

  • I wore warm socks all day and night from a few days before transfer until testing day
  • From the start of that cycle I drank a small glass of Pomegranate juice every day until testing day (meant to help your lining)
  • I didn't have cold drinks (left Pomegranate juice or water until room temp)
  • Similarly, tried to have warm foods rather than cold
  • Generally tried to eat healthily, but avoided spicy food (trying to keep digestive system as settled as possible)
  • Also avoided all foods that are unsuitable for pregnant women (and obviously alcohol!) as per the NHS guidelines
  • I had two days off work afterwards, so lots of time relaxing but also got out for a gentle walk every day (wrapped up warm with scarf and gloves)
  • After that I got on with life fairly normally, but just made sure I was staying warm, not doing heavy lifting and trying to stay calm and get a good night's sleep
  • I had reflexology in the run up to transfer, including a session the week before and 5 days after transfer day

I'd do all these things again to be honest.

Everyone has different ideas about how early to test, I waited until 11dp5dt and to be honest I'm glad I did because it was nice to prolong the hopeful period. I'd say try and enjoy your time being PUPO. Whilst I was devasted by the negative pregnancy test, I do think those 11 days were a really nice time of feeling like this was the furthest along in our TTC journey that we'd ever been and being proud to have made it that far.

Are you having a fresh or frozen transfer?

Very best of luck, and hopefully you can find a nice balance of doing some things that might help whilst not working yourself up about needing to do too many things!

Lots of people do lots of really different but there really is no evidence that there is anything you can do to help the outcome post transfer. What will be will be unfortunately. Best of luck.

Should say 'lots of people do lots of different things'. Not sure what happened there 😂

The only advice for on the day is not to drink too much. My first clinic told me to drink something like a litre of water which was silly, I couldn’t walk by the time I got to the clinic. Something like 400ml or 500ml seemed to be fine on the other transfers.

I had 7 transfers over three collection cycles and tried all the stuff, and by the last one I’d given up most of these things, so went straight on a 6 hour drive to Cornwall to see family after the transfer, got some sun, went in the sea, visited things. It was the one that worked, so I don’t think it really matters.

What will be will be, as the previous poster said, sums it all up quite well.

I don't think there's any evidence anything improves outcomes .
I had my transfer then went for a meal.
Had acupuncture few hours after transfer and reflexology just before the period before transfer. I really think it helped clear out my old lining as I had a good heavy bleed and normally it's extremely scanty and I only spot for a day or two.
I kept my feet warm and drank lots of water at room temperature. I had mild ohss so pretty much lay on my backside for weeks binging on junk food. Currently 20 weeks from our poor graded embryo .
I think its really just pot luck

Lie down for half an hour after the transfer; avoid any strenuous activities; eat well (follow the do's and don'ts of pregnancy diet).
