FET after miscarriage

Hi, I recently had a miscarriage at 15 weeks from a fresh embryo transfer (IVF). This was our first pregnancy, we are absolutely heartbroken.

I currently have 6 frozen embryos which I now want to get PGT-A testing. I am wondering how long you have to wait after having a miscarriage before you can have a FET?

Also how long did you wait before you contacted the fertility clinic? I feel like the only way to heal and move forward is to jump straight back into it and have something else to focus on.

Sending love and light to all those going through a difficult journey.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Is this your first pregnancy?

I've had 3 losses and believe me, try to find an answer now before continuing.

My IVF dr kept saying, a loss is normal, didn't test for anything and then kept MC. Now seeing a Reproductive Immunologist.

They would tell me after a MC, I had to wait a month or so for my first normal period and then I could restart a FET.

Good luck

Thank you for replying. I’m so sorry to hear about your 3 losses. That’s really disappointing that your IVF doctor didn’t test for anything.

Yes this is my first pregnancy. Everything was going well until I had a scan at 13w+5d which showed baby had a high NT measurement as well as fluid around its head and body. I had a blood test which came back that I was high risk, 1 in 3 chance of baby having Downs, Edwards or Pataus syndrome. My next scan at 14w+6d showed baby no longer had an heartbeat.

I had a miscarriage in hospital. Baby has now been sent off for genetic testing. It’s mostly likely a chromosome abnormality. Which is why I’m now looking at getting my other embryos PGT-A tested. I haven’t contacted my fertility clinic yet though.

That’s good that you only had to wait one cycle before trying again. I keep reading on other forums that some had to wait three cycles, which seems like such a long time to wait.

I hope everything goes well for you in your IVF journey. I pray it brings you your rainbow baby.

@HoneyB18 FYI .. when I had the first MC I asked to get my frozen embryos tested but the clinic said it's a high risk and they may not survive.

Good luck!

Yes I have heard that some might not survive the thaw. Luckily I have 6 frozen embryos left. Plus 2 more free rounds of IVF on the NHS. So for me personally I think it’s worth getting them tested than keep going through the pain of miscarriage.
