2DT or 4 cell embryo transfer

Hi all.

A lot of things I have read are of 5DT so just wondered if there were anyone that is going through/or been through an earlier transfer before blastocyst stage

we had two eggs retrieved but only one fertilised and so the clinic called us in on a 2 day transfer as their procedure was to get the one live embryo back in the womb rather than risk it in the lab

it was a good quality embryo with no fragmentation but only 4 cells at the time of transfer.

please can anyone share their experiences?

7 days post transfer for us and not had any symptoms what so ever so just keeping occupied until OTD and hope that no symptoms is not bad news!

thanks

Hi @wishinghard2

I'm in a similar situation. We had two fertilised. They advised us to come in for a day 2 transfer of both given my age, as there was no point leaving them in the lab any longer. We were unsure about a double transfer so asked for just a single, and for the other to be left in culture to see if it made it to day 5 for freezing.

On day 2 they rang us early on and said one wasn't dividing as well as the other, so it was clear which one to put in. The one that didn't divide properly didn't make it to day 5. So to cut a long story short i'm in the same position as you with one day 2 transfer. I can't remember the number of cells sorry but the embryologist graded it as top quality with no fragmentation.

I've tested a bit earlier than I should have (whoops) but tested this morning and got a strong positive. So there's definitely hope for the day 2s! Hope yours goes the same way! I'm a little nervous as there's still a small chance that the positive could be picking up the trigger shot. So if you can hold out I'd suggest not testing early like me as it just leaves you unsure either way.

I don't think I've had any symptoms. I've felt a tiny bit bloated and maybe constipated but nothing major, and that might just be the drugs anyway rather than the pregnancy. I think no symptoms is totally normal at this stage. Fingers crossed for you x

Hi guys.
I appreciate this is an old post but i hope you don't mind me joining as I was just wondering how both of your cycles turned out?

I'm currently in the same position. We have 2 day 3 embryos, one 4 cell and one 5 cell. My clinic won't transfer before day 5 so it's just a waiting game to see if they make it to blastocyst stage, but I'm just looking for some similar stories.

Thanks
