How many of your tested embryos were normal/euploid?

Hi

I am going to do an egg collection and test the embryos after having 5(!) failed transfers since my son was conceived via IVF. I am curious as to what to expect. Please could you share the number of eggs collected/blastocysts/euploid numbers and age? I do appreciate there will be a lot of variation but I am interested to hear experiences from others.

I last had EC a year ago I had 9 eggs and 3 blastocysts but they were untested. I'm not sure if I will get anything to transfer as they might all be abnormal. I am 36 now.

@Sofie19 I did the EMMA/ALICE test which showed microbiome imbalance, the treatment was a course of antibiotics followed by probiotics (oral and vaginal). I had to repeat the test which confirmed the healthy microbiome was restored.

I was also worried about thawing and refreezing, but if you’re having it done at a clinic that has a state of the art lab the chances of losing embryos are extremely low. We haven’t yet thawed any of the embryos that were frozen, thawed, tested and refrozen though, so jury’s still out on final outcome.

We had a miscarriage in our first IVF round which was devastating. In our second cycle, I just didn’t want to go through a miscarriage again, it was my number one priority as we already had a child and I felt going through this process was taking away from me being present for him…so we PGTA tested our one and only embryo and it was normal. Extremely lucky. I was fully prepared to call it a day and to say we did our best as didn't expect the only embryo we had to be normal but it was thankfully. I was 37 at the time.

@thislittlebird that's great! Enjoy it all!!

@giraffesauce that's true, if I am going to a decent clinic I shouldn't worry about that. What probiotics were recommended? I am actually getting the endotritis test in a few months bubi doubt it will show anything.

@mappedhearts thank you for sharing. How fortunate the other embryo was normal and took!

I'm 36 and in October on our second round I had 15 eggs collected, 12 fertilised, 8 got to blastocyst stage day 5/6 and then we PGT-A tested all 8 and 6 came back euploid. I've recently had a BFP on our transfer of an A grade blast. Only 5 weeks in, so fingers crossed.

@Custard7891 wow, great result! Thanks for sharing! Massive congratulations! Really hope the next 35 weeks go smoothly for you. You're the same age as me so that gives me some hope that there is the potential for a good proportion of euploids.

Thank you. I had a low AMH of 4.0 too, in case that helps at all. First round of IVF was unsuccessful but all we had was an E and F grade blast and nothing to freeze. So very pleased this time around. First round I used just Ovaleap for stims, and second round where we had more success was a mix of Ovaleap and Menopur. Wishing you all the best on your journey 😊

Hi!
37F and 42M
Unexplained infertility
First egg collection 10th Feb
14 eggs retrieved
10 mature
8 fertilised by ICSI
7 day 5 blastocysts (3 x top grade quality, rest were good and freezable)

Our embryologist said our results were above average and quite rare so we were quite shocked and chuffed.

We did our first ever fresh transfer with a top grade hatching blastocyst on 15th Feb. I am currently two days away from test day but I already know it failed, as I started heavy spotting and cramping on off from 5dpt everyday and today tested BFN and flow starting to look more like start of period! Boo. If no issues after this cycle we might consider our next FET in April. I did think whether we should've done pgt-a testing but didnt as wanted to go into ivf with the assumption everything is ok first and then fix the problem (if any) in second attempt.

Custard7891 · 25/02/2024 21:28

@Eggsellentéso sorry to hear that 🙁but it sounds like you had a good round with some good grade blasts in the freezer. Our first round was pretty fruitless by comparison as we only achieved a grade E and F essentially that they wouldn't freeze, so we didn't even consider PGT-A testing on those and just had both transferred together to give them the best chance.
