FET process

Hi!
Please can someone provide me with abit of information of how a FET works after egg collection? I have had my 4th stims scan this morning and as I was leaving the consultant casually mentioned this will be a freeze all due to a high number of follicles, around 33. This of course is positive news the fact hopefully plenty of eggs but also gutted I've now got to wait for a transfer.
Please can someone let me know the process, how long do I wait? Do I have to do injections again before the FET?
TIA x

hi there - 33 is an incredible number but yes, I think a freeze-all will be best. You may be feeling a little sorry for yourself after the egg retrieval, some possible pain, bloating etc so this will give your body a chance to recover ahead of the FET! You should only have to wait until your next cycle and I can't speak for everyone but I was on oral estrogen to thicken my lining but no other injections until maybe the day before the transfer when I started progesterone in oil and Clexane. Also progesterone gel/pessaries are very common - but it will be an individual case for you as I'm not sure of your situation. Good luck!

Thank you for your reply! @loulamay I have such an irregular cycle, the waiting is frustrating! But I know it's for the best to let my body recover x

I see - is that something you could talk to your clinic about? On one of my rounds they let me take vaginal progesterone for 10 days to bring on my period because we were going travelling for a month and I really wanted the egg retrieval done before we went away.

Oh really! Yes I'll definitely ask the question!

Hi! I have my egg collection tomorrow, also having a freeze-all as I have PCO which increases OHSS risk. Essentially need to recover before a transfer. No set date for the transfer but generally the next cycle is when you can go ahead.
I’ll add this thread to my watch list as will be interesting to get your experience with it all and input from others.

I haven’t asked my clinic about the proper process for FET (in terms of meds etc.) as wanted to get this step done first!

Wish you the best for your stims! Water, protein and take it easy.

I can give you my timeline 😀 Glasgow hospital

Egg collection - 15th November
Withdrawal bleed (think that's what it's called) - 21st November

5th January - 1st proper period was 6 weeks after the withdrawal bleed, thought it was never arriving!!

Phoned clinic the Monday after the first period and someone phoned me back on 11th January to book in appointment to check bmi and to give the prostap injection to shut down ovaries etc this appointment was on the 25th January so 2 weeks later

8th February- baseline scan to check lining was thin, started Progynova tablets

19th February- prostap injection again

20th February- scan to check lining is thick enough (I'm assuming il start the progesterone pessaries at some point that week) and then hopefully all going well my transfer will be the following week beginning 26th

Hope that helps 😊
