Double transfer experiences?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone here has done double transfers after initial single transfer failures.. and what was the outcome?

I will be 42 later in the year, have had 3 transfers:
1st - fresh transfer day-5 untested 2BB, implanted but lost early
2nd - euploid FET, did not implant
3rd - untested day-5 5AA fresh transfer, did not implant

I have 4 embryos left currently (day-5 4AA, 5AB x 2 and day-6 4BB). Also a day-3 and waiting to hear how many make blasts from my last and final cycle). I have decided not to test them and leave it to chance.

I have asked the doctor if a double transfer is possible, and he’s looked into my history/notes and said it is possible but not encouraged in general. I am waiting to do a hysterocopy.

If you have gone through this previously, can you provide any advice please?

Thanks for reading 🙏🏼

I’m interested in hearing any double transfer experiences also. I had a successful IVF/FET in 2020 that resulted in my daughter but have had three failed FETs (one chemical, two failed implantation) since Sept 2023 trying for #2. We also lost two embryos to the thaw process during these few recent FETs so my doctor thinks it’s embryo quality causing our issues. She’s suggested a double transfer next time which I’m equally excited and worried about. All have been top-quality graded and we have a 5BA, 5BB, 4BA and 4BB left.

Would be great to hear from others who have transferred two.

All my transfers have been double

Own egg DET - failed
Donor egg DET - failed
Donor egg DET - singleton pregnancy MMC
Donor egg DET - singleton pregnancy live birth

What grades were the embryos if you don’t mind me asking @Lauren83 ?

Hey 👋 my first three transfers were all single transfers and I had early miscarriages in all of them. In my 4th transfer I requested a double transfer (you will have to talk through the risks and sign away your life …) and so far it has worked but need to see what happens at our viability scan next week 🤞

I think they generally discourage due to twins being higher risk pregnancy so I’d definitely speak with the clinics regarding these risks so you are happy first. My thoughts were that we likely have an embryo issue since we can’t get pregnant naturally and every transfer although implanting doesn’t reach far so what are the chances I get two heartbeats! x

Congrats! @Ellenn 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Im thinking the same, likely an embryo issue due to age (and not testing them) so maybe I should put 2 in and hope at least one sticks. I personally don’t mind twins but I’m probably naive/ignorant in that department!

I wonder if embryo grades play a part, our embryos have all been good-very good but none had worked. So, it’s been disappointing. I did fall pregnant once before we turned to IVF, it was a missed miscarriage.

@blahblahetc our grades have been high as well all my single transfers I had 5AA so I lost faith in them and actually asked if we could transfer our slightly lower grades for the double just to try something different 🤷‍♀️ I’m not sure I’m convinced that grading means everything tbh!

im the same I wouldn’t mind twins but obviously the risks are quite significant but I was happy with the numbers as 95% of pregnancies will result in healthy babies and healthy mum it’s just 5% that have a poorer outcome unfortunately. Your clinic should be able to chat you through the risks associated if two do implant!
