Gynae Recommendations - Central London

Hi there.

Looking for recommendations for a private gynae in Central London please.

I cannot go to a fertility clinic as I’m trying to get the investigations I want on my private medical insurance and they don’t cover fertility so the private GP recommended going down the route of period disorders, PMS and perimenopause and that I should be able to see a gynaecologist that way with insurance cover. She said to look for one with a specialisation in fertility so they can be more helpful in that sense.

What I’m looking for is testing

  • endometriosis
  • POCS
  • hormones imbalances

Thanks all 🙏

I can’t really help but following as I’m in similar situation and trying to dodge the private medical fertility black hole!.

I saw a private gynae last year for luteal phase spotting - and my insurer covered it no problem. I was really honest with the gynae consultant that the reason I was there was because I was worried about impact on fertility, and they ran all the tests etc.

A year later - I tried to get claim authorised for hormonal disorder/pcos investigations but because my gp wrote ‘also TTC’ the insurer said flat no as they deem it to be fertility related. Ridiculous and massively discriminatory.

I’m not sure if it depends on the views of the person who reviews the claim, or how well you can explain that the symptoms affect you day to day (rather than being a TTC concern). But my plan is to get a new referral which doesn’t mention TTC and try push it through.

Thanks @Sierra26 but yep absolutely my referral doesn’t mention ttc or pocs or endometriosis at all, it just says period disorders and the gp appeared really helpful in that sense. I was honest with her that I’m trying ttc and have a history of recurrent miscarriage, but also that I’m having some symptoms that may indicate hormonal imbalances and possibly sadly onset of perimenopause which are covered by the insurance so hoping that’ll work, but I want to find a good consultant 🤞
