Could anybody please tell me what my blood test results mean...please please?

Hi, these blood test results are from me being discharged from the fertility gynae at the hospital as they said they were "normal" but I am 43 (just!) and have started to skip periods now so I know I don't ovulate every month anymore but wondering if my results are low/high/bad etc as I'm really not convinced that they are normal as we can't get pregnant.

Oestrodol 718 pmol
Serum Progesterone 0.7nmol
Serum TSH 2.3 miu/L
FSH 3.6 iu/L
Serum LH 3.0 iu/L
Prolactin 135 mu/L

TIA x

Blood results on there own aren't very helpful when assessing fertility. Interpretation of results also depends on the cycle day they were taken. Statistically at 43 your chances of conception resulting in a live birth are sadly pretty low as I'm sure you know. Your chances of success with IVF are similarly very low. Have you had other fertility tests? Presumably you will need to go private as you will be above the age most NHS fertility clinics will treat unfortunately. If you want to pursue treatment you and your partner would need baseline tests ASAP (bloods, scan, sperm analysis). Robert Winston's 'the essential fertility guide' is a very helpful and pragmatic book. Good luck.

Thank you, we've had all the tests, scans and a HSG but were discharged after 2 appointments. I'm looking for a magic supplement that will increase my chance of ovulating with a decent egg x

That doesn't exist unfortunately. If you aren't pursuing fertility treatment the best you can do is have regular unprotected sex, keep your BMI in the normal range, eat a generally well balanced diet and be regularly active. All the common sense stuff really and of that only keeping weight in normal range has any rest evidence for aiding fertility. Good luck.

The magic pill comment was purely sarcasm as if only it were that easy x
