Period after embryo transfer

Hiya I still have two days until my IVF clinic said I can test ( 10 days post transfer) my question is, will my period be due at the normal time. I have a very regular period every 27/29 days so will this still be the case after embryo transfer. Do you get your period during your wait or is it pushed back? Because going by my usual schedule I am 3 days late but I don’t want to get my hopes up. Any advice welcome thankyou

Are you on any progesterone medication? If so, there is a possibility that this can hold off your period. A lot of women don't get a period until the negative test has been confirmed and the progesterone has been stopped.

In my experience, this wasn't the case, the 2 failed transfers I started spotting within the week of transfer. The 2 positive results, I didn't bleed within that time. I did spot on my second pregnancy (first ended in miscarriage) but this was after I had a positive result.

Good luck to you, lets hope for a positive result :)

@Lay1990 It can vary a lot. As above if you're on a medicated cycle with any kind of progesterone support, this is often enough to delay your period. I would say you really can't know until testing day, good luck!

im on a medicated cycle so that makes sense I have already done two clear blue early response tests (not the digital ones) and they were both negative though I have read these tests aren’t the best so I wont test until the clinic told me to (tomorrow) but again that is only 10 days post transfer. They provided me with a normal pregnancy test then a finger prick blood test to do on day 12. I have been cramping literally everyday since my transfer but that is my
only symptom. It is only my first cycle so I’m trying to not get discouraged if it is negative. I still have 7 good quality embryos in the freezer. Thankyou both for your replies xxx

If you're having a negative at this point after a 5dt unfortunately it's almost certainly not a successful cycle. Most would get a positive on a non early detection test by this point. Once you stop progesterone it may take a day or two for your period to come, not usually much more although can be up to a week. Not having bled since transfer doesn't really mean anything in terms of likely outcome unfortunately. It's different for everyone and can be different between cycles. Good you've got plenty in the freezer and remember it's usually takes 2-3 transfers on average for a positive outcome. This one not working has no bearing on the potential of the next ❤️

I just did the test they provided me (10 days post 5d FET) and it’s negative so im out this cycle. Hopefully the next one will work in my favour. Trying to stay positive! Thankyou for your reply 💕
