Should I do another EC?

Hi

I'm 43 years old and contemplating whether to have another EC or not.

I had my last one in 2021 where my AMH was 17.1 and they collected 16 eggs and 4 made it to blastocyst.

I've had 3 failed transfers so we have one frostie left which is a 4BC so not the best quality.

I have adenomyosis so am on a waiting list for surgery. I've tried so many different things.

My AMH is now 8.1. Should I even bother with another EC at my age?

I'm also concerned doing another EC will trigger an earlier menopause ☹️

Hi @Tillybabs sorry to hear about your failed transfers. I’m sure you know the stats for that age group so I suppose it depends on what your emotional and financial boundaries are. Are you open to something like egg donation or do you only want to try with your own eggs? If you could afford it and feel you need to give it one more go I would probably do that. However if you are open to egg donation and money is an issue I would do to that as it’s more likely to be successful.

Sorry if none of that is helpful, just thinking through what I would do in that situation.

Also I didn’t know adenomyosis could be treated with surgery? I thought the usual treatment was down regulation.

And of course that’s all hypothetical - I think a 4bc still has a good shot.

@Guardian12 thanks for replying!

The cost isn’t so much an issue, more the toll on my body. We’ve tried so many different things and I did a long downregulation twice!

So yes I was offered surgery very recently. It’s called an adenomyomectomy but it’s open surgery ☹️ so it’s something I’m considering but keen on.

I’m having chats with them next week and will then be able to make a more informed decision.
