Implications counselling for donor treatment

Hi has anyone had implications counselling for donor IVF? If so can you please let me know what it was like? Was it quite structured? Did they run through certain stuff or was it more open?

Having it next week and just wondering what to expect! Thanks.

Quite structured, clearly had a list of topics to discuss but once on the topic, conversation flowed quite naturally. I suppose it will vary from counsellor to counsellor though. Good luck, hope it goes well.

I’ve had it four times, all with different counsellors and would agree with this.

Quite a lot of it is about info for you, e.g. about how ID-release works in this country and the possible changes coming, about research strongly supporting being open with any resulting children and how best go about this, about the potential impact of new developments like 23andme and sites for finding ‘dibling families’ on donor conception, about resources and support available to you like Donor Conception Network.
