Advice please re Hysteroscopy / Varicocele / 2 Failed Transfers

Hi all,

I wanted to see if anyone has experience or advice with our situation.

  • TTC for 1 year
  • DH sperm tested in June- terrible results with 0.8% morphology
  • Fresh IVF in Oct, only 3 eggs but all 3 made it to day 5. Transfer failed.
  • DH found out he has a varicocele
  • Frozen transfer this month- sadly failed.
  • DH had varicocele removed

Does anyone think that 2 failed implantations could be down to the varicocele causing DNA fragmentation?

Our embryos were all good quality but we didn't have them PGS tested.

Not sure I should have a hysteroscopy in case there's anything wrong with me- although after reading stories- I am scared of this procedure... would def need a general anaesthetic it seems?! I've been told I have a small polpy but it shouldn't affect implanting...

Thanks in advance :)

@FernaFrey sorry to hear about your experience so far, it's a tough journey. I'm due to have a Hysteroscopy with a general anaesthetic, mine is due to a polyp-I have been advised it can affect implantation so I wanted to get it removed before transfers. I would think a Hysteroscopy could be worth exploring

@Sunflower360 thank you so much for your message. Yes, I think I agree- come this far, may as well try to investigate all areas. Do you know the size of your polyp? Am I correct in thinking a hysteroscopy needs to be done in the first half of your cycle? (just thinking of planning re IVF cycles)

Thanks again x

@FernaFrey mine was showing at 9mm. They are going to do a biopsy too whilst there, may as well do as many investigations as possible in readiness for a transfer

@Sunflower360 good luck with it all :) xxx

I would look to improve your DH's sperm before doing IVF and look into his DNA fragmentation. Sperm renews quickly. Is he taking supplements? Mine is taking zinc, CQ10, fish oil, lycopene, NAC, Alpha lipoic acid to improve sperm.

I had two failed transfers. Did a Hysteroscopy, all came back fine. I did however have a progesterone test on my third transfer and found out my levels were on the floor so was given extra drugs. I also had an endemetrio test which came back with some findings. Not sure if you've ever struggled with your lining? Third transfer was a success
