Letrozole only 1st time 5mg success stories

Hi ladies, I really need some success stories.
so a bit of background I have pcos have had it for years. My periods are very irregular have about 5-6 a year. So recently I was given progesterone to induce a period,once my period started I had to go I. For a baseline scan to check that my lining was all good and I didn’t have any cysts, scan was all good so my gynaecologist gave me letrozole 5mg to take from day 2-6. On cd 9 I went for a follicle tracking scan which showed 2 big ones on my right ovary only. I then went back for another scan and that showed 1 big follicle and the doctor advised me to BD.

I have never felt ovulation in my life but I had a stitch pain on my right side.

anyway I went in on cd19 to check my progesterone levels via blood test and that came out as 34nmol. The nurse called me and said that I ovulated and to test in 10 days time which lies on 1st January 🙂

I guess I’m writing this thread to get some ladies experience and success stories. Xxx

Congratulations! Sounds like you responded really well to the letrozole. I was incredibly lucky to fall pregnant in my first month of 5mg - I actually ovulated twice (ie two follicles) and one is now my lovely baby. I was also on progesterone suppositories to help with the lining of my uterus.

I really hope your new year starts with a BFP! If not, don’t be disheartened. It’s brilliant that the letrozole has effectively controlled your ovulation so if it’s not this month, it might be next!

Thank you for your reply it means a lot . I was just disheartened that only had one follicle I thought I might have at least 2 to give me a better chance, but my doctor said they only want to see one.

I hope the start of this year brings me some happiness , TTC is a stressful journey and when your the only one going through it out of your friends and family you just feel why can’t I be normal , hence I love Mumsnet for support.

just a quick question if I ovulated this month and say I get a BFN would I start my period?

Of course! It’s a very isolating journey. Try to take some happiness from a successful ovulation so you now have has a good a chance as anyone.

Definitely don’t worry about one follicle - if you had too many, they would advise against trying. One is perfect!

I also felt psychologically much better that I had a plan with the letrozole, rather than be told “it’ll just happen when you least expect it” 🤨

I found out I was pregnant 12dpo with the world’s FAINTEST positive, so don’t stress with early testing 😂

Yes you are absolutely right to say I should be happy that I ovulated. I don’t think I’ve ever ovulated in my life as I have never felt ovulation pain apart from this 1 cycle. So fingers crossed.

I will be 13 or 14 DPO on Monday. Do you think a digital test will be better?

Oh and yes you should get a period if negative!

I’ve always used old school like tests - anything that says early such as First Response means it has a higher sensitivity for the pregnancy hormone. But digital ones should also be fine.

Thank you. AF has still not showed up . I’m cd 29 today. No idea what my natural cycle is but on cd19 I confirmed ovulation so not sure when af will turn up although I have severe cramping

Just a quick one would a clear blue pregnancy test give a false negative on 13 or 14 DPO. Or am I completely out this month. Still waiting for AF. Confirmed ovulation on cd 19 with blood test

I think the stat is they are 95% effective on the day your period is due. So it’s unlikely but you’re not out of the game entirely!

I’m cd 30 today and no show of AF . Because I have pcos I have no idea what my normal cycle is . My nurse just told me to come for a blood test to check if I’m pregnant , otherwise she said they will start me on tablets to induce my period , but I am so confused because surely I should get a period if I confirmed ovulation

Sending you lots of luck OP. Also I think you said you ovulated on cd19 and tested on cd29? It can be helpful to wait up to 14 days after ovulating as it can take longer for some people to test positive

On cd19 I confirmed ovulation with a blood test so I guess I ovulated before that . Still no AF it’s stressing me out !

Update AF just showed up. Have to go for baseline scan either tomorrow or day after and start cycle 2 of letrozole

Hiya I need some help . So I took my 2nd cycle of letrozole still at 5mg. My first letrozole I ovulated but didn’t conceive my result for progesterone test was 34 nmol

now this time round I went in for my progesterone test to check if I had ovulated and my results were 79nmol!!!!! Is this too high? I’m currently 6DPO

Hi so I took my cycle 3 letrozole , it was unmonitored as doctors were happy how I responded the first time. I did feel ovulation pains this time aswell. My cycles with letrozole have been 30 days and 29 days. I’m cd 35 and no AF I’m too scared to do a test but I know it’s the only way I’m going to find out if I’m pregnant . The thing is I don’t know if I ovulated this month . Is it possible to ovulate on letrozole and then not ovulate ?

@whatahun hey I don’t know if you follow this thread anymore. But just wanted to let you know that I got pregnant on my 3rd round of letrozole. I am 5 weeks and 6 days today. Still very early x
