Nicotine replacement and male factor infertility

Hi all,

My husband had a sperm analysis done back in November and it was pretty low across the board. As we already have one child conceived naturally we were told to try 3 months of lifestyle changes before a repeat analysis in February. He's exercising more, eating well and on a good supplement regime. However, despite stopping smoking many years ago, he has struggled on and off and occasionally used NRT like lozenges, as well as vaping. After receiving these results, he did stop vaping but I discovered several boxes of nicotine tablets this morning while putting clothes away. He insists there is zero impact on fertility but surely nicotine is nicotine and will still impact things, especially if you've been told you're basically infertile. He struggles a lot with managing stress and I'm trying to be supportive but it's really hard. It took us 3 years to conceive the first time around and we're now in our late 30s and late 40s respectively so I'm worried. Am I right in thinking he just needs to stop taking anything that contains any nicotine? I'm feeling particularly fragile, having discovered a friend is pregnant for the third time after another very easy conception. Thanks for reading if you got this far.

Is it more the habit he is struggling with? Perhaps he could try nicotine free vapes? I don't smoke so not sure if they are any better for overall health. I have also seen online a metal hollow style vape, again just to fill that habit :)
