IVF Abroad

Hi, I'm 42 trying for our first child with my own eggs. We want to go abroad for IVF treatment as we hear the success rate, treatment and cost is better than in the U.K. I'm finding the process overwhelming and not sure where to start. We are looking at Spain but I have been to an Ayurvedic centre in India a couple of times and have heard that India is one of the top countries for IVF. So wondered if anyone has had any experience of either country and has any advice?!

Hi RH8A,

We are using Klinikk Hausken in Norway- we were recommended this clinic by friends and also after doing lots of research, we decided we would rather go abroad than the UK.

Firstly the cost difference is HUGE. Even with the flights and accommodation it's a no brainer for us. I have found the clinic super super friendly so far. Sadly our first cycle didn't work but we are going back for a frozen transfer soon.

There were quite a lot of clinics I liked the look of abroad- it's crazy that I always thought the UK would lead the way in this field but apparently not!

I would choose somewhere you feel comfortable with and safe when there.

I have found the costs of medication also less than the UK.

Good luck!!

Hi @RH81 - we are with Reprofit in Brno - much cheaper than the UK even with the travel.

I looked at Spain too but they were quite a lot more expensive. I would have thought India would be a bit tricky with travel unless you are spending the entire time out there? I found quite a good guide that compared pros and cons and prices of places in Europe: https://www.fertilityclinicsabroad.com/ivf-abroad-guide/

Given your age, you might want to consider PGT-A testing on any embryos you make - it's expensive but saved us a lot of heartache after multiple miscarriages and failed FETs. x

Hi FrenaFrey,

Thank you for your message, I will have a look at Norway as it isn't somewhere I'd thought of.

Good luck with your transfer, I hope it all goes to plan.

Hi Loulamay,

Thanks for the advice, I am adding in the cost of the PGT-A test when looking at clinics, as you say it bumps the cost up but I think it is worth it.

I'll take a look at Reprofit as it's always good to get recommendations.

Many thanks
